I agree. He is more apt to do something stupid to antagonize the home crowd. Better on road than at home...
Rather a good crew.
depends on a Joey day though

Agreed.
Most of the ref travesties against the Spurs have come at home. .04 in '04, the non-call (by Joey) when Fisher fouled Brent Barry on the three in '08, Joey's ejection of TD for laughing -- all at home.
Bottom line, you can't afford to lose playoff home games, but road games are not quite as essential.
I'm a big Joey fan if we are on the road!
Duncan's ejection happened in Dallas IIRC.
Joey Crawford was the lead official in the horribly officiated ROAD game 6 in OKC last year!![]()
On the other hand, they blew a home game first.
Close enough.
They cant be any worse than the Game 2 crew
Game 2 was probably the most horribly called game of the playoffs.
I cannot abide Stafford.
Granted, there are not many that I do like, but Derrick Stafford is among the worst, imo.
And the game 2 guy who gave us the worst was not the crew chief but one of the other guys.
No, this is a bad ref line-up for us.
And I had promised myself a nice glass of McAllan 18 year old single malt if we won tonight. Bummer.
Actually Joel did ok in Game 6 in OKC last year. It's Bill Kennedy who sucked! He was also the one officiated game 2 with Memphis this year.
fish foul on BB was gm one WCF after Spurs beat Nola in Semis, was on the road in LA.
Crawford was the lead official in game 6 vs GS as well.....
Go to bed conspiracy theorists ...
It doesn't matter where the game is dip s. If Crawford is going to us over, he is going to us over wherever he wants. We should all be very afraid after what happened in game 2. Tim Duncan, 3 fouls in 29 seconds. No free throws to end the 3rd Qtr, not a single free throw in the 4th. Only attempts in OT were intentional fouls. That is flat out in scary, and how no one see this outside of Spurs fans is even more troubling. The media doesn't even bring it up...For 7 and a half quarters in this series the Spurs ran the Grizzlies right out of the gym. This looked like a surprising monumental mismatch. I don't think anyone honestly saw us smacking Memphis around that easily. Winning the series, yes. Making them look like they don't belong on the court with us, no. Then all of a sudden, the refs start helping Memphis? Absolutely every call goes to the Grizz, literally. Not even debatable, we literally didn't get Ft's for almost 2 full Qtrs. How does a team not get FT's in an NBA game in that long of a time span? As Spurs fans we should be prepared to see an "interesting" officiating job tonight. The Spurs are too classy to say a word though. Get ready...
It's not the calls, it's the no-calls.
I believe the thinking is it's better to be ed by JC on the road, where you're not very likely to win in any case, rather than have him dry hump us at home and take away HCA.
I can see that logic, my take was a little harsh in calling people dip s. I just feel we are going to get ed whenever the NBA chooses to do so, be it home our road. Yeah I don't want to lose HCA. But if the NBA has it out for us, we are going down be it home, or road...We just have to hope there is justice on this planet and the better team will win. It's clear that team is the Spurs. I have faith we are going to win this series with how good we have looked so far. In order to lose there is going to have to be some serious ref intervention. It will likely start to get obvious and controversial, then again, that has never stopped the NBA before. Just ask the Kings, Mavs, Blazers, or our Spurs. The list can continue.
its really too bad steve javie's back went all ed up and forced him to retire.
speaking of refs.
did knick bavetta retire finally? i havent seen that old ass fossil all playoffs, and hope that doesnt change this year.
- Wine Joey after the game?
- you, Pop.
is still reffing, might not be in the playoffs but he was doing regular season games earlier.
I think Joey's crew did fine, they missed stuff going both ways.
Bavetta was not assigned to any playoff games this year. His playoff workload has been gradually decreasing:
Bavetta last worked the Finals in 2008; last worked the conference finals in 2009; last worked the conference semifinals in 2010; and only worked a total of 5 first round games in 2011 and 2012.
This is the first year since at least 1984 that Bavetta hasn't worked at least one playoff game.
I wouldn't be surprised if he retired at the end of this season. He wasn't even really a crew chief during the regular season (he worked 3 total games as a crew chief and was the only official to have been a chief for at least 1 game who didn't get a playoff assignment), but he did get to lead a crew on the last night of the season in a completely meaningless game between the Cavs and Bobcats. It would make some sense that the league let him go out as a crew chief, expecting him to retire. We'll see I guess.
Game 4- McCutcheon, Brothers, Zarba, Phillips
McCutcheon seems fine as crew chief. Brothers and Zarba however as crew members have given home teams +10 ppg ... Won't be surprised if the Grizz get away with murder in the paint
