Yes, Spurs should obviously try to win game 4. Grizzlies are too good of a team to gift them one game.

Now, Pop shouldn't play too much Tony and Tim in that game to have them ready for a potential game 5.
The Spurs stated after Game 2 that their mindset in the series was that they were down 0-2. Pop is the last person I can imagine who would suddenly view this series as being over, or Game 4 as a done deal and Game 5 a high possibility. He has the proverbial foot on the Grizzlies' throats, the last thing he should do is let off the accelerator.

You are. But BatManu20 is right behind you. Dude in the game thread is a disaster, like he's watching the game while standing on his head and taking a painal from his S&M trained dog.

"Can't believe Grizzlies are shooting this good!" - they're shooting 39%

"Tony Allen is killing us with all these jumpers" - Allen has made 1 jumper and missed 3

etc, etc. Dude is a disaster. But you're worse, at least for now. Sleep well!
I'll take that as a compliment.

One small crack in a dam can cause a flood to end up smashing through.

I don't want any let up. I want the Spurs to sweep. A 3-1 series lead can easily turn into a 3-2 lead, and then suddenly it could be a possible 3-3 situation.

Yes. The Spurs want to have time to go over every loss by the Heat, break down every play they struggled with, find every weakness of each player so they know exactly who and when to double, who to leave, what plays to run on inbounds, out of timeouts, and at the end of quarters.

And if the Pacers win, then the Spurs can start planning the parade.

Ah, the age old argument - rest vs rust?

    It's really a no-brainer.

Take the sweep, get the rest, allow the bodies to heal, recharge the batteries and get prepared for the next opponent. If there is any rust, they'll probably need about a quarter to get focused. However, given the fact that it's been six years since this team has been in the Finals, I expect the Big Three to be fully locked in and focused from the tiopoff. They know what's at stake.

In 1999, the Spurs were playing the Timberwolves and won the first two games. It was best-of-five back then, and I remember a reporter asking David Robinson if they were thinking sweep. His answer was something like, "No, no, we're not thinking sweep at all. No way." I remember thinking, "Well why the aren't you thinking sweep??"

It wasn't all that surprising when they came out flat and lost game 3. Seemed like David was trying to keep from insulting his opponent. I like it a lot better when I hear Timmy say "You can't give a good team a chance, you have to do everything you can to beat them or they'll make you pay."

As some have also stated, the additional benefit from a sweep is it gives the coaching staff additional time needed to fully breakdown film and game plan for either opponent.

Wolves actually won Game 2 (and stole HCA in the process, not that it mattered as much for a best of 5 series)

Maybe he means 2001? Elie rubbed off alot on the team in 99....I think David went back to being mostly nice by 2001.

Would love to see the sweep for all of the above reasons (Agree FULLY), but would also like to see them take the Western Conference le at home and watch the crowd go nuts. I have tickets for the entire run and there's nothing quite like being at the AT&T Center when it's a huge win.

My mistake. Must have been 2001 against the Timberwolves then.

Sweep would be nice. Let Pacers and Heat duke it out to 7 and get tired.

Assuming we play Miami, game 1 would be away, so it wouldn't be devastating if we lost game 1.

If we play Indiana, it doesn't matter.

Another thing...every time Manu makes a move, I'm worried about his hamstrings. One less game of that could be the difference between a championship and a colossal disappointment.

This is ridiculous. This is not the regular season where Popovich will tank the occasional game for whatever well thought out strategic reason. This is the EFFING PLAYOFFS. The goal is one and only thing: get to 16. Every game you don't win keeps you one short of that goal.

When leading 3-0. any game that you don't win next simply opens the door to a potential defeat in 7 games.
