It's funny that Jennings talked about role-players, since he would be one on the Spurs. World Peace is continuing to try to drub up interest from the Spurs. Depending on what contract and role he wants, there may be mutual interest there.

You don't understand Pop at all, do you? Not even a little. I think he's pretty much done with former Pacers SFs who went into the stands at The Palace.

I don't think Jack's history of "criminal" activity influenced Pop at all. Jack was a bad teammate for one of the first times in his career, and that's why Pop had to get rid of him. World Peace is actually a pretty solid teammate, too, and he doesn't really complain about his role or gets into fights with management. Therefore, if he understands he'd only be Kawhi's backup and signs a deal reflecting that, I don't think Pop would steer clear of him.

For critiquing my suggestion in such a snarky way, you really showed a superficial understanding of Pop, Jack and World Peace in your post.

World Peace definitely seems like he wants to join the Spurs, tbh..

His brother is a Spurs fan..Peace always speaks glowingly of Duncan and Pop and the organization, as well..

I'm not sure if Pop would take him, but I'd love him as a bench guy on the Spurs, tbh..he's a horrible starter, but he would be solid as a bench 3/small ball 4..

Jennings is the quintessential anti-Spur like player. Inefficient, selfish PG with a lot of bluster. No way there is going to be any "mutual interest" with the Spurs.

Artest is Jack-like crazy plus a million some more. Also has lost a lot of value over the years by generally regressing (slowly but steadily) on defense and becoming a black hole on offense. Overpaid player, who might be amnestied, but is less of a Spurs fit and a liability this point.

MWP was a ty player against opposing starters this year, tbh..

Stephen Jackson was one of the worst players in NBA history against bench players AND starters this year, tbh..

Peace isn't that old and he's still able to bully players inside..I think he could thrive with a change of scenery in a bench capacity..

If World Peace is willing to listen to coaching (and by all accounts, he is), then he should be a lot better offensively in the Spurs' system. In the SSOL, he's allowed to jack up bad shots, and even before then, players on the Lakers had to shoot the ball whenever they had it, as they knew Kobe wasn't going to give it back once he got it. Defensively, he's undergoing the same change Jack is/was. World Peace is no longer a player you can put on anyone, but he's still a good combo-forward who could guard Durant and James very well.

With small-ball lineups being the rage nowadays, it'd be nice to have another wing who could move to the four and defend his position, spread the floor (a little) and even get his own shot. I'd love to have him on the team to guard James or West in the Finals.

I would love to see if Pierce gets cut by the Celtics as there is a possibility of that. Artest is not so much an option as Pierce.

Of course Pierce as a bench guy would be outstanding, but he will probably receive starter offers from teams like Memphis and the Clipps, tbh..

Memphis could be capped out with their renewal of Tony Allen's deal.

Clips, yes. Los Angeles being hometown and Clips having pursued him earlier this season, most likely could happen.

I wouldn't totally mind Ron Artest, the player, as our backup SF.

I definitely would mind Ron Artest the crazed maniac as our backup SF, however.

The dude is legitimately bat crazy.

MWP's comment actually seemed backhanded. He basically just said the Grizzlies were better than they showed and insinuated that the Spurs were lucky they didn't "try hard enough".

As for mutual interest in MWP. . .yeah maybe. . .3-4 years ago. Now? Nope. Slower, ty BBall IQ, can't hit the three. Next to useless in Spurs' system, and is arguably a negative because he runs his mouth too much, jacks bad shots more than anyone on the current Spurs, and his salary would be better spent elsewhere (a real backup PG or replacement for Bonner)

It seemed more like he said that Memphis got beat so badly that they gave up after Game 1. I don't think that's an accurate take at all on his part, but I definitely don't see the praise as back-handed.

As far as fit goes, the Spurs are going to have to get a backup three, and World Peace could be a VERY cheap option if the Spurs claim him off amnesty waivers. They may not have to pay him anything more than the min.

He's crazy as a ing loon, but the boy can flat ball. If he was in the right place, I think he could still dominate games. I feel sorry for him a lot of times, because I think he really does want to be a good guy. But in honor of your "bat crazy" comment, I feel compelled to post my favorite MWP clip of all time. No matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old:

If MWP could keep a level head, I'd love to have him on the Spurs. We can get him cheap and he can still ball.

Yeah, I guess I didn't say it straight out. I would be happy to see him in a Spurs uniform. He still scares me, come playoff time. But if there is a place where he could become a good citizen, it would be here. The Laker coaches were stupid for the way they used him, or didn't use him. It was all about Kobe, and Pau. And Kobe. And Bynum. And Kobe. And Dwig... Kobe. MWP was just sort of an extra in the movie. He brings a lot of things that the Spurs need.

I'm usually pretty negative about head cases. I hated the very idea of J.R. Smith in Silver and Black. And I was a lot less happy than most to see Jack come back. But I still think MWP could be okay here.

Maybe I just don't know how the new "amnesty waivers" works, but waivers in every other sport is NOT cheap. In baseball for example, claiming a guy off of waivers means you have to be the full amount if the team who waived him says, "go ahead and take him". So in MWP's case, that's what, 7.25m a year? That isn't cheap at all. . .Batum was like 9 mil and he's basically Artest with shooting ability.

As for the backhanded thing, the "exceptional" thing was the compliment part, but the first part imo imnsinuated that we shouldn't have swept them and only did because the Grizzlies were just happy to be there and didn't give us their best. That is definitely a backhanded compliment in my book.
