They wouldn't be built the same way, tbh..
They are built to win in today's era where there aren't any dominant bigs..if they played in a different era, the team would be constructed differently..
Seeing how Hibbert is raping them I'm wondering how people think they would fare against say like the 1996 Magic or 1993 Knicks.

So you think they would lose, okay. Anyone else have a take on this? I'm still awaiting judegement till I hear some analysis.
They probably would have acquired different players. I don't see the likes of Allen, Battier on this team if they would have to go against those teams, probably picked up a more physical big.
It's hard to tell how they would do considering how the NBA has changed so much over the years. if i would have to guess though, Champhionship material. Beat the knicks lose to the magic
This. But if one of those great bigs you mentioned did play them, they'd get swept.
So, say the 1996 Bulls would be better against the 1996 Magic than this team.
Interesting.
Saying they'd be constructed differently is kind of a ridiculously stupid answer. The OP asks whether this team would get crunched by a 90s era top big. Yes, yes they would. Shaq would go 40 and 20 on them.
So this is like the greatest team of all time, but they would get housed against any decently constructed team with a dominant big. rofl
Imagine the 1986 Celtics front line against this team. the 1986 Rockets! Best team of all time my ass.
They wouldn't be able to sniff the 2003 Spurs' jock.
That is also pretty stupid tbh. Making conclusions about things that never happened to begin with is ridiculously stupid too. It's two opposing styles, it's re ed to think one style would always dominate the other.
The 1996 Lakers would destroy the 2013 Heat. We would overmatch them athletically + 24 year old Shaq totally tips the scales over in our favor. 1996 Lakers in 5. The 2013 Heat would beatdown the 1993 Knicks though. Their guards <<<< Miami's perimeter defenders.
I don't think they'd get swept. They've got enough offensive firepower that they could probably win a game or two purely on making a ton of 3s.
Their "swarming" D was better during their streak. If they could do that they could average like 7 turnovers a game on Ewing or something absurd. So it's probably not as lopsided as it looks, but Miami wouldn't win the series unless they were on fire.
It also depends on officiating, obviously..
If they are getting calls like the Bulls of that era, they would win, tbh..
Tough to say. On top of Hibbert, Indiana is a fantastic defensive team. I don't remember how good the 1996 Magic were on defense. The 1993 Knicks could defend, and would probably give the Heat some trouble. Obviously prime Shaq or Ewing would have their way with the Heat, but Lebron would torch whoever they threw at him as well. The lane wouldn't be as open, but he scores as easily from the outside as he does inside now. I think the early 2000s Lakers or mid 2000s Spurs would crush Miami though.
I'm hoping Quadzilla99 will chime in..
If Hibbert and David West are averaging double doubles against them, imagine what a HOF center in his prime would do.
at Bosh, Birdman or Haslem guarding that
or trying to guard Ewing shooting fadeaways 8 feet in the air.
or Shaq just owning all of them with his behind

^True, I rescind my previous statement concerning Ewing
So they might be able to flop their way out of it. Wow, okay.
Nice U-turn you made from the second post itt btw might wanna just go ahead and just delete that post so it doesn't detract from this new line of analysis you're attempting.
Don't know about Ewing but this Heat team would get dominated by almost any Shaq team pre 2006
What do you mean by dominated ?
1. Lose a 7 game series from almost every shaq team pre 2006.
2. Just get dominated in the paint.
If it's 1, your take on basketball is horrible. For 2, Which team didn't.![]()
The Knicks getting underrated here.
Ewing is no where close to Shaq in their respective primes, but the Knicks team was a lot less flawed as the Magic team. The Magic team had no bench, Nick Anderson's nerves were shot in 96, Anfernee Hardaway was fragile, Dennis Scott can't guard anyone on the Heat, and the only thing the Magic can do is to outscore the Heat. Shaq will obviously be a huge advantage on the Magic side, but Lebron will likely negate that advantage for the Heat. I will say this will be a draw of a series, probably going with Magic in 7.
As for the Knicks, Ewing and Oakley will brutalize the Heat inside/mid range, Starks can guard Wade, and Mason can actually guard Lebron a little (long armed, strong as , quick hands). I would actually think the Knicks will do better than the Magic, likely winning in 5. Bosh will be crying in the locker room because he got screened too hard by Oakley.
this is stupid
prime ewing or any knick team between 1990-1995 will abuse the miami cheat to the nearest hospital...
dont forget the knicks also had probably the 2nd greatest white center to play the game, dudley will make sure he gets paid those 6 fouls he needs to use up and be on any poster
