If Indiana makes it back to Miami, no way are they winning a game 7 at their place. Lebron/Stern won't allow it.
Well then if that's the case, like you said yourself, the point is moot. I just hope Parker and Duncan keep their momentum going.

Head says pacers, heart says heat
    this.

Pacers would be easier, but beating the latest bandwagon, all style & no substance team would be more rewarding.

however, like I said prior to the Lakers series, ultimately I don't care who we face, as long as we are healthy and ready to play to our potential, I don't worry about things we have no control over.

Be careful what you wish for. The Heat carry more of a resemblance to the Warriors and Thunder rather than the Grizzlies, and we've all seen that it is not exactly smooth sailing for the Spurs in that regard.
I wish for the Heat. Screw the smooth sailing.

About a month ago, I thought we'd have to shoot the lights out in order to beat Miami in the Finals. But with Wade as slow as he is right now, Miami is a one-man team. Methinks Pop can figure that one out.

Winning is the only thing that matters. If we have a better chance to beat the Pacers than the Heat (which we obviously do) then we should be rooting for the Pacers.

We shouldn't sacrifice potentially winning a championship for the hype of a single playoff series...give me a break.

There's a reason Parker is texting George Hill pointers on how to beat the Heat. And there's a reason Duncan is also allegedly texting Hibbert for the same reason.

Because the Spurs are smart. They don't want to play the Heat and potentially lose. They want to play the Pacers and have a better chance at winning another championship. And we should too.

So you prefer the opponent with the lesser chance of beating. Might as well go out in a blaze of glory, huh?

    Ballsy. Insane, but ballsy.

Indiana vs Spurs is boring and forgettable, even for Spursfan aside from it being #5.

Need the sweetness of knocking off the champs who had the best record in the NBA and the best player on the planet.

Especially after beating a 7 seed, 6 seed and 5 seed to get here.

Pacers. And not just because I know the Spurs can beat them. I enjoy watching the Pacers and I like George Hill. And I hate Miami and would love to see them fail in the ECF.

The le is legit no matter how you get it. Because you have to get through any number of teams to do it. Basketball is a game of match-ups; the Warriors were a tough matchup for the Spurs, for all the Spurs are a better team. The talk of legitimacy is only talk of jaded and bitter fans. If the Spurs get it, they earned it, no matter who the opponent happens to be. Was 2007 any less legitimate for being the effing Cavaliers? They were a team who would have been curb-stomped in the West. But we still have the trophy and the le and the ring and the banner. 2005 was not more legitimate because we played a 7 game series against the reigning champs. Come on now.

I don't understand why people feel like the Spurs need to prove something - they proved it by beating their compe ors in the West. There are ALWAYS complications and unknown factors that people will endlessly debate. What if Manu hadn't committed a bone-headed foul in 2006? What if the Spurs weren't ed over in 2004 (they still collapsed all on their own)? What if OKC had a healthy Westbrook and beat Memphis?

If it's Miami, it will still be a series of "What if Wade had been healthy?" and "What if X foul hadn't been called?" or what the ever, because for fans of a particular team (including analysts who favor teams), there is always a question that makes the win over your team less than legit.

Besides, I fear for my television set if we play Miami; their play and the favoritism shown them (in analysis, in commercials, in officiating) offends me.

I see your point, but really it's just the two sides of a coin: safer but boring or perilous but glorious.

Saying that means practically admitting that we don't have the chance against Miami if we face them in the finals.

If the spurs is going to win it all...I'd prefer that they earn it the best way and prove to everybody that they are the best team. Their team - first concept of play out match Miami's individualistic plays. Its not just about winning, it in the way you win it.

I know about every playoff series the Spurs have ever been in. I want another dazzling one to look back on.

    Pacers don't cut it.

Imagine being a Pistons fan in 2005. Do you think that they wondered, "Would we rather see the Pistons play the Suns or Spurs in the Finals?"

Those who preferred the Spurs probably wish Detroit had played the Suns instead.

    Every championship is dazzling.

I want the win. The team is irrelevant except in matchups. Pacers are a better match-up by far in relation to the end goal.

Heh. Funny to see so many who decry the NBA playing up the Superstars...hoping so much to play the Superstars.

But, I'm sure it's just about showing everybody else how silly they are for focusing on those Superstars, eh?

The key will be Parker regardless. If he plays like a Finals MVP the Spurs will win. It might be easier for him to do that against the Heat.

Or a Cavaliers fan in '07. You would have probably wanted to play the Jazz.
