Pacer's Hibbert suspended for Game 7
    Official Release
    Posted June 2, 2013 12:38 PM
    NEW YORK --

Indian Pacer center Roy Hibbert has been suspended one game without pay for his remarks in the press conference following last night's Eastern Conference Finals Game 6, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

"As you know, the NBA has implemented a strict no-tolerance policy when it comes to bigotry and hate speech. We have no choice but to follow through on said policy and suspend Roy for one game. We hope this sends a message to our players and fans alike, that we will not tolerate slurs against any group of people."
If this were real, would you support the NBA decision?

If it were real, NO, because it would be but more evidence of fixing things for a big-market team at the right time. If there were no Hibbert for Game 7, you could just pencil Miami in for Game 1 on June 6th.

In all honesty, he will get about a $25K fine for his remarks.

Nothing for the "no ". Nothing wrong with what he said.
Should the NBA suspend a player that would say "that what she said" at a question that could have another meaning in a sexual context?

For the you all motherf***, probably a fine

There's a world of difference between using "no " in a live interview and calling Jason Collins a " got" in a live interview after playing his team. The latter probably would get someone suspended, and that would be totally reasonable. "No " is inappropriate at best, but it's not an actual slur.

Is there even precedence for suspension based on off-court comments? Would seem excessive even without precedence, but I'm just curious.

No discipline for LBJ last year wrt his "re ed" comment: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/trueho...ory?id=6517744

But Hibbert isn't Bron. Would not at all be surprised by a Darth Stern suspension to fix the series.

Fine for profanity, because censorship is still a thing in the US for some reason, "no " is an idiotic phrase an implies negative connotation but hasn't been viewed as a slur or insult for the most part.

Of course not. This is in no way similar to a suspension such as that which Anderson drew for his hard foul.

same here but even under that "no " would not be close to a suspend-able offense.

I could maybe see a fine for the other profanity part though.

Political correctness operates on two sides of the same coin. A) Don't be an asshole B) Stop getting offended by assholes
