I'm getting a bit bored of this 'Heat coasting' crap. This is who the Heat are, a team who can't play at full intensity for 48 minutes. They aren't coasting, it's just them playing their game.
Nobody coasts in the NBA Finals.
I liked your forum and have been following it, but decided to make an account recently. Thought I'd provide some interesting perspectives. I'm a Houston resident and Rockets fan, but one of my best friends is from Ohio and a die hard Cavs fan/somewhat Lebron fan. Watched a lot of his/Heat games so thought I'd throw some things out there and see what you guys think/have to say as Spurs fans.
Things from game 1 that I'd like your thoughts on.
#1 The Spurs did a great job stopping the Heat from getting to the hoop only after the first half when they were worn down. The Heat's backup players had a pretty easy time taking it to the hoop. LBJ and Wade started this series really warn down and the thing that really worries me is every time they got man up with just Duncan between them and the hoop they took him to the hole and scored. (Especially Wade) Those guys are going to get stronger and Duncan's lateral movement was really slow. Way slower than Hibbert's. I know from watching enough that LBJ takes slacker shots when he's tired instead of dunking/challenging big's, and it seemed to me like putting Duncan in foul trouble would be really easy going forward because his lateral movement is so slow at this point in his career.
#2 There is only one good perimeter defender on your team. Kawhi... whoever he's not guarding can pretty much do whatever they want going to the hoop. Green on Wade was a joke and he's not exactly at full speed. The amount of times Wade took Green and Duncan to the hoop early was bad. Will Green get better as the series goes on in your opinions?
#3 The Heat coasted for almost the entire second half until the Spurs took advantage of them being worn down. Now that they have had 6 days of rest and no body banging against Pacers like bigs they will be coming a lot harder later on. The only player that looked terribly rusty was Duncan for 1 quarter. I've seen a lot of you guys talk about the bad 3 point shooting but a tired Heat team challenged almost every shot. This is exactly how the Thunder beat the Spurs last year by doubling down and then using superior athleticism to challenge threes anyway. Does it concern you that it should actually stay about the same 3 point percentage wise realistically? I've read a lot of comments about how the Spurs can play that much better offensively but are you seriously taking into account that they are playing one of the most athletic teams in the league with a deep bench. What if at best you get 1 good 3 point showing of 40%+ from here on out... do you see them winning?
I don't get to watch the Spurs much between being a Rockets fan and Watching Heat with my bud so I look forward to your thoughts.

I've never met anyone from Houston that is fond of the Spurs. As a matter of fact, I've had several friends at work that are from Houston and they all despise the Spurs. So do me a favor OP and GTFO of this forum. Trolls are not welcomed here. Go to the ESPN boards and vent all your Spurs hate in there.
6 missed corner 3's were contested in the 4th.
Green a bad defender
Mike miller, ray Allen, Shane batter, Dwayne Wade, Udonis Haslem "athletic"![]()
I can tell.
ESPN sends out two sets of perspectives to their talking heads. Read set #1 if Heat win -- read set #2 if Heat lose.
OP is just parroting #2
Spurs missed threes were not contested. I can remember a sequence with 5 consecutive missed three pointers that were WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE open.
Didn't read the OP. Went straight to the comments. Good thing I did.
lol coasting
lol perspective
lol houston fan
Dayum OP, seems like u tried to come in here acting like this "nice guy" & take a on this forum, but these SpursTalkers figured u out very quickly, tied u down, forced open that -sucker, & forced that same down ur throat.. Pretty funny tbh HAHAHA
GTFO u unsuccessful troll![]()
Thinking that pretending to be a Rockets fan would give you credibility on a Spurs forum.
Proud Spurs fan from Houston right here since '97 bro! Well...technically I'm from Corpus, but I live here now lol
I think he meant non-Spurs fans that are from Houston. IOW, no Rockettes fan in the world likes the Spurs.
this is true, at least from my experience. My friends who are rockets fans always bring up the Hakeem v. Duncan or Hakeem v. Robinson thing and it gets annoying
Since Robinson dominated Hakeem other than that one playoff series I'm unsure why they always go back to that.
it's difficult to compare players of different generations in the first place, so Duncan vs. Hakeem is a moot point as well. It seems they try to cling on to relevance by way of rings I guess.
but back to OP:

I don't think the heat are especially athletic. Definitely not at the level of athleticism of the thunder. And the spurs weren't missing threes because of defensive pressure.
Spurs have to play at a faster pace and not let Miami get set in their half court defense. I expect game three to be a higher scoring match.
I actually tried reading more than the first couple sentences of each point and just had to stop. One of the worst "perspectives" ever conceived tbh. And you only get one perspective btw.
1) I will try to provide you with a serious reply. The first half showed a Spurs team that was rusty. They got into a defensive rhythm in the second half and played the way you can expect the Spurs to play. Miami going the rim will not get Duncan in trouble, it will just limit Miami's ability to shoot threes. Duncan is simply a master at blocking shots without leaving his feet. Wade. Chalmers and James attacked the basket and Miami still lost. The problem was Bosh and the rest of the Heat became spectators waiting for James or Wade to save the day.
2). If James and Wade were not ready to go with game one then they are more mentally weak than ever thought. You act as if Miami is some old decrepit team full of 35 year old players.
3) Green's defense was decent until he made the dubious 3 point foul. Up to that point Green hitting his three point shot was giving Miami fits, and basically kept the Spurs in the game early on. He is playing with a lot of confidence.
A lot has been said about how the Thunder beat the Spurs last year. That was a whole year ago, and you have given Pop a whole year to figure out what to do. Not worried about the Heat suddenly becoming the Thunder. The truth is this is about the double teaming of the Heat versus the passing to the open man of the Spurs. The Heat wanted game one really bad. They played the best they could. Simply put. the Spurs depth gives them the ability to outlast Miami when they are their best.
I probably wrote more than i should and could have simply said the post is more a collection of wishful troll thoughts.
