Every game is a must win. Its the Finals. The players should have that mentality, and I know Pop does. Miami wins if the Spurs help them out with turnovers. With the way the Spurs defense plays, and the ball movement(system), I am feeling very confident.

But with that said, the numerology so far is working out as expected. The Spurs won their first four les in 5 games, 6 games, 7 games, then 4 games. If the statistical pattern holds true, which they sometimes do, the Spurs -- having gone through the cycle -- will once again win the le in 5 games.

I hope you're kidding if you think that what happened in 1999 affects what happens in 2013.

No, it's not. Let's stop downplaying what "must-win" means. If we lose it's a tied series for god's sake...

However, I don't see Miami winning 3 straight if they lose the next one. It's a must-win for them.

I've heard people say games 1-3 were must wins and I have rebuked them. All games are crucial but only a couple are considered "must wins."

Game 3, more important but also not a must win. The Spurs get 2 more games at home.
Game 4, yes. By the pattern the games have been swinging, this is the battle for control and likely deciding game on which team will be in the driver's seat.
But there's still game 5 at San Antonio...what applies for game 3 applies for game 4. People can make any game more important.

I think almost all of us can agree on the following two statements:

    1. Game 4 is not, strictly speaking, a must-win.

    2. But the Spurs players should still treat it as if it were a must-win.

The Spurs are not winning this series in 7. With LeBron usually playing his best in game 7s and the refs' calls will most likely favor the home team, I just don't see the Spurs winning in Game 7.

The Heat haven't lost twice since January, so imo the best chance to beat them twice in a row would be when you have both games in SA, games 3 and 4, as opposed to game 5 in SA and game 6 in Miami. The Spurs could lose game 5, but not game 4.

You want the Spurs to step on the Heat's throats while they still can. Otherwise, LeBron's confidence will rapidly grow en route to his game 7.

GAME 4 IS A MUST WIN.

Spurs fans thinking their team is knocking Miami off their throne and ending their dynasty. The Heat will repeat even if this has to go 7 games. Miami is built for the long haul. This is just adversity they are facing. Miami can and will overcome this. This is what they do.

I'm fine with 2 out of the next 4.

But really: Today is not a must win, but we should at least win one of the next two. I just want to have a closeout game prior to them.

Miami is built for the long haul.
with all the talk of fatigue, injuries, old age, and crap play from their bench, it sure doesn't look that way.

Game 4 is not a must win for the Spurs
It might be a must win for the CHeat. If they lose tonight they don't make it back to Miami.
If the Spurs lose tonight with a wounded Parker it is not the end of the world.

You will see the same type of effort tonight from the CHeat as you saw in Game 2 so get ready.
Less than 10 turnovers. 40% + from 3's and the Spurs can win this game tonight.

game 3 was a must win. game 4 not as much. it's close, but not an absolute must win like game 3 was.
