Spurs don't need Dwight Howard on the team. He's an anti-Spur.
Check this out, and even Kurt Helin and Kevin Pelton who are respected sources gave ther input...

Sources also say that the field for Howard's free agency has widened considerably... Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, San Antonio, LA and Brooklyn

San Antonio has just $32.8 million in salary commits and could have as much as $26 million in capspace in July.

RT @hamoodxo: Pop wouldn't let an uncoachable player ---> Dwight craves coaching now more than ever.
Kurt Helin @basketballtalk18m
Actually @stevekylerNBA cap holds for Manu, Splitter and others soak up Spurs cap room. Only have room to go after Dwight if they renounce.

Kevin Pelton @kpelton15m
@basketballtalk Or if they re-sign Ginobili first for less money. I think people forget about that possibility.

Kurt Helin @basketballtalk9m
@kpelton Agreed. But then they have the Splitter issue, don't need him if you sign Dwight but would need to let him walk first to have room.

Kevin Pelton @kpelton7m
@basketballtalk But I could definitely see them getting Ginobili/Splitter done quickly and going after, say, David West.
Kurt Helin @basketballtalk9m
@kpelton That would make a lot more sense to me. Agree on odds. Pop might break a wine bottle of Dwight's head... but only a cheap bottle.
Spurs don't need Dwight Howard on the team. He's an anti-Spur.
Spurs do not want that bag
Just a ruse from the Howard camp to entice LA to pull the trigger. SA is not a real consideration; it doesn't fit either of Howard's criteria:
-- total lack of accountability
-- easy access to sex with pornstars
Interesting but doesnt sound like a Spurs type move to me.
Howard trying to list the Spurs to make teams think he cares about getting better.
The only bigman player other than Splitter that would be great in the PnR would be Howard. But really, you saw his effort in D'antoni's system. The guys could be great but that is a BIG IF. And I don't think the Spurs are willing to gamble 20+mil in salary cap for the NBA's version of Terrell Owens.
Tiago is a sure thing and he would cost nearly 3x less than Howard.
With the perimeter shooting Spurs have? This would highly increase the chances of #5 (Or 6)
Plus Dwight could let Timmy go out with a le, Like what Duncan did with Robinson. Kinda funny, Robinson and Duncan are 10 years apart. Dwight and Duncan? 10 years apart as well.
Dwight would also have a much brighter future here. Kawhi, Danny, and Joseph would match up with him incredibly.
But he would never come, Not sure if Spurs would have the patience either. This is just the classic "Interested in SA so my stock can rise" trick. It's amazing to think of "what if", though.
They'd have to pay him the max, and it would create internal strife with more accomplished players who play for a lot less (Tony, Timmy, etc).
Stay the away from San Antonio Dwight. We don't need your mess here. We don't want your mess here. GTFO You cant shoot, cant hit free throws, have no moves, you whine like a little . He quickly become one of my least liked players over the last year or so. 37 year old Duncan carved him up in the playoffs lol. Spurs don't want or need that mess in San Antonio
Somewhat intriguing. If he had expressed interest in coming to SA straight from Orlando, I'd be far more interested. We've seen how much of a diva and lockerroom cancer he is, though.
Bruno and Chinook can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only way the Spurs could clear up enough space would be to get Manu to take the room exception (~$2.5M), renounce Splitter, Blair, and Neal, and waive Bonner.
That still leaves the problem of having Duncan at 38 and Howard who hasn't looked the same post-surgery take turns guarding stretch 4s. Could Duncan and Howard even share the floor against the Heat?
In other words, no thanks. David West is a far better fit, but only if Tiago gets such a big offer that the Spurs won't match it.
TBH, if you can sign DH, then you will sign him, no excuses.
Is the second to last tweet really suggesting that the Spurs can sign Manu/Splitter and go after David West? Or is it implying that the Spurs sign one of the two of Manu/Splitter and then go after David West?
This. He's still the most dominating center in the league. No "Wah but he's a baby" excuses. This move would also benefit Duncan, less wear and tear on him. Besides, I'd rather deal with a baby than a wannabe gangsta with less intelligence than a bag of rocks. But again, No way he signs with SA.
He'd want the max ... and I don't think he's worth that, to be perfectly honest.
yes take him. He has baggage but he wasn't really a coaching nightmare until the past 2-3 years imo.
Pop would straighten him out or cut him if it failed.
OH MY GOD, what the ing ???????
yes take Dwight if you get the opportunity. The problem in LA was combining too many egos with a coach who can't handle them, and had no ability to develop a system to fit them. That's not a problem in SA. There's going to be a big hole when TD leaves, and having Howard fill it isn't a bad thing. Not that it will happen.
No, this clown I rather we go for Al Jefferson or overpaid Tiago.
Or maybe we're just spoiled with the Duncan and Robinson era, he's still worth the max, he played injured most of the year in a ty system that didn't advantage of his defensive potential and still put up great numbers...
To be perfectly honest..... A more legit way of tbh? I sense a new trend rising.
Dwight Coward hates Tim Duncan, remember? I predicted he would get himself ejected from the playoffs against us. He is the anti-Spur. Self first - he can take his caustic ass to some losing club where he can be the center of the universe.
