Given the age if this team, and how things fell into place this year...I think it might be.

Possibly at least for the next 10 to 15 years unless we sign Dwight Howard during the offseason. I believe that when Pop retires he will become the Spurs GM or President of Basketball Operations. Pop will take a Pat Rilley role. If that's the case, then I think Pop is more than capable of creating another championship contender team if the Spurs are able to win the lottery again like with Tim Duncan. We need to get lucky and draft another future legend.

Yes this is the end. The San Antonio Spurs will never again be in an NBA finals. The team will move before they again reach an NBA finals.

Are you assuming the Spurs are moving out of SA at some point?

No, I'm assuming there is not another Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, or Manu Ginobili out there to get us back. No one builds teams like that anymore...we can't attract a James/Bosh free agent group.

What do you think the Thunder are made up of? Why were they so good? Because they had/have a core like we do.

Arguably, OKC is just as bad as a free agent target as San Antonio is, so I don't think this is enough reason to spell doom and gloom.

As long as we have the same management in place and a consistent following-up of the powers that be, we'll be fine going forward.

There's rumors of Dwight Howard wanting to come to our team as an option. We can definitely attract people to come to SA because the franchise has a willing culture, and players want to win.

Maybe for a long time. Spurs need to eventually sign a top free agent to have a chance in this league. If Spurs lose this series, I'm afraid Duncan will retire. He will think, "What Am I playing for?" Ginobili needs to retire no matter what happens. He is god awful.

Because they drafted a special player (Durant), added a top 5 PG (Westbrook), and drafted James Harden (subsequently trading him because they couldn't afford to keep all 3).

    Sounds easy...

Definitely not easy, but there is no reason to think that it won't ever happen to us again throughout the history of time.

I doubt it. If the Spurs become terrible, they could always win the lottery again and draft the next Tim Duncan. Not saying its likely, but after striking gold twice in a ten year span I definitely wouldn't rule it out. Top that off with the success San Antonio has had later in the draft picking guys like Manu, Tony, and Kawhi, and I have little reason to doubt they will continue to contend.

I'm sure the Spurs will still be contenders. A core of Parker/Leonard/Green in the future sounds good to me.

No one can predict the future there is just too many unpredictable variables. I think the spurs will be fine and will find a way to build a compe ive team from the ground up. I would say look at the Pacers and what they have done with their roster the last several years. I can see the spurs rebuilding in the same way.

We've seen that the Spurs can consistently draft NBA players with late picks -- even most of their flops like Beno and Ian are still in the league. We've seen that the Spurs can land an impact player with a #15 pick. , we've seen that they can find role players on the scrap heap. Even without winning the lottery, what could they do with a couple of years of top 10 or top 5 picks?

    Step 1: Win finals
Step 2: Parker season ending injured, Manu retires
    Step 3: Tank
    Step 4: Draft Wiggins
