he could become a free agent and then sign a multi-year deal that would pay less next season but would provide long-term security.

“Yeah, definitely,’’ Iguodala, 29, said of that being a distinct possibility. “You got to weigh options. Security-wise, a player would opt out, especially with the type of season we’ve had as a team. Teams know what I can bring to them, and I know (the Nuggets) know what I can bring to a team here.

“Players get like $50, $60 or $70 or $80 (million over multiple years), whatever the number was, they gave up a big number (in an option season by opting out). But in the grand scheme of things, pretty much get it back. You got security.’’

Terrible at shooting 3's which would wreck spacing on offense, and will probably cost too much. However, if the spurs can deal Green, sign Iguodala to a contract starting at $10 million, and trot out a line-up of Parker, Iguodala, Kawhi, Splitter, Duncan, the defensive a en of that unit would be impressive to say the least.

I can't see Iggy opting out just to take whatever cap space the Spurs have left over after re-signing everyone. If he wants long-term security badly enough that he's willing to give up $16.15 Million next season, it would imply he feels he may be near a large drop-off in skill. If that's the case, I wouldn't want the Spurs to be the team that takes that risk. Current Iggy would be great if he had any further upside. A declining Iggy would be a huge albatross on the Spur's cap.

On the other hand, if Ginobili were to retire, then a three-wing rotation of Green, Iggy and Leonard does sound good.

his point forward abilities would help the bench
also a good defensive player who should be good for at least 2 more years

He's not opting out of a huge one year contract to sign for two years. He'll want a full length contract at top dollar.

Iggy would be awesome but don't see it happening. A back up SF, a PG and another big is a more pressing need

A smallball lineup of Parker/Green/Iggy/Leonard/Duncan would be fearsome defensively.

However, getting Iggy probably means losing both Manu and Splitter.

I think he stays in Denver.

If I had to guess, 12m/year (48m/4y contract)

Splitter definitely, but Ginobili for the room exception is becoming a more realistic possibility.

I'd love Iggy as the sixth man if he were a little younger, but I don't think he'll be worth his contract. I'd rather go for Evans.

Denver is in complete disarray. Their roster is a mismatched hodge-podge of whatever, and the coach that led them to the playoffs got canned.

Iggy'll probably go to Atlanta when they strike out on a superstar. If Ferry can get him and a center like Splitter or Jefferson in addition to drafting well, the Hawks may have a good team yet.

For some reason I have never liked this guy..he does a lot of things good, but not one excellent.
IMO, he is not ready to play in a system where a player HAS to do something an do it good, he is not reliable.

Only 6 players in the League average at least 13/5/5, which are Iguodala stats:

    Lebron: 25/8/7
    Westbrook: 24/5/8
    Kobe: 25/5/6
    Pierce: 20/7/5
    Rondo: 13/5/11
    Iggy: 13/5/5

    Too much of nothing.

He defends excellently. At 5 assists per game, you can also run some offense through him. He's actually someone Pop would value highly. He really likes versatile, multi-position players, and Iggy is anything from a 2 to a 4, depending on matchups.

Would be a great fit actually, but the Spurs can't offer as much money as other teams will, and would be better served spending their free agency money elsewhere.

It would be hilarious if Iggy, Bynum, and Howard were all on different teams next season. Everyone criticized the Magic for not trading Howard for Bynum straight-up. Now, the Magic look to have gotten the best end of the deal with a great, young Center in Vucevic and a solid defender and scorer in Afflalo. They also got Tobias Harris from Milwaukee for Re as well as having the number 2 pick in the draft. I am really happy for Jacque .
