I was afraid of him falling off Jaren Jackson style. Thankfully, Danny wasn't satisfied. Throughtout the year I made the observation that he was more confident this year. That was never more apparent than tonight when Danny started off terribly with an air ball. Last year that DG wouldn't have come out balling after that point. This year he's far more confident and he believes in himself. Its awesome to watch.

If he spends the summer improving his in-between game, and his ability to finish at the rim, he's going to be a very, very bad man. And possibly the biggest bargain in the league, other than rookie scale contracts.

Well JJ Re is looking for 10 million per year so...

    More than that

Bottom line is we got a bargain for him. 3 years/12 million is NOTHING in the NBA. Kris Humphries made 12 million this year ALONE. Other elite shooting guards made at least twice as much as Danny Green. This organization is just amazing at building elite teams for the least amount of $$$.

He's worth a lot more to the Spurs than he would be to any other team, tbh, outside of a few teams that could generate good looks(Miami, Denver, Indiana..)..

That's more an indictment of Ferry than an endorsement of 2009 Green. Although had Lebron not blown up that team, Green may well have developed there.

LOL WOAH WOAH WOAH. Danny Green has been amazing in these finals but he's not worth 10 million. If he was a free agent this offeseason he might get 7-8 million. MAYBE.
10 seems like it should be a bit high, but name 5 better SGs in the league. Kobe, Wade, Harden, Ellis, and... ? And Kobe is out most of next year and Wade looks awful for long stretches. Danny is a superior defender, and he's demonstrated that he's fearless in the playoffs... I mean, this is a Finals performance worthy of Derek Fisher or Robert Horry. Best of all, he's still got room to get better. A well-run team with a need could definitely fairly pay $8 million, and I could imagine someone overpaying $10 million if they had a big hole at the position.

Right, but he's of unbelievable value to teams that are going to make deep runs in the playoffs (e.g. the ones you mentioned), because he obviously isn't afraid of the moment. Players who have that trait and aren't making All Star money are scarce as .

Actually, I could believe it. Ferry was a big supporter of Green when no one else really was. It was he who recommended that the Spurs pick him up.

Green is the most puzzling player I've ever seen, tbh..

He dribbles the ball at a High School level, he can barely finish dunks and layups, he doesn't have any moves, yet he's the potential Finals MVP in 2013..

I liked Pop's quote tonight about Green

    Chris Mannix @ChrisMannixSI
Gregg Popovich on the comparison between Danny Green and Bruce Bowen: "I guess they are both similar, because neither has any moves."

Green and Leonard could be handy wings going forward into the future.
Thank you for your insight, captain obvious.

Was really impressed with Green's transition D. I think he managed to stop 3 or 4 fastbreaks by Wade or James.

The good thing is that he wants to be with SA, I think I remember he turned down other offers this off season that were offering him around $5 million a year to to stay with San Antonio. After his Finals performance he could easily get $7 million per year, maybe in the $9 million if a team is desperate.

He's established himself as one of the best defenders in the nba with his defense, as well as the best 3pt shooter in the nba, his value will skyrocket after this series. He's also performing against a great defensive team.
Yeah I'm really skeptical of that claim. This was Danny's first big contract. Guys like that aren't going to overlook an extra $2M/year just to stay with a team.

Green is that kind of player made good by the spurs system. He won't do well in most teams in NBA outside the spurs, without the ball movement.

Depends on the Stat you use. On the regression plus minus stats, he comes out really well, and he's an above average player by WS. He's probably best as a 4th/5th option offensively, but teams should do basically whatever they can to get him shooting and generate shots for him, as he's such an efficient player.

I thought his current deal was good at the time, though obviously no-one expected this eruption. Afflalo at $8 million is probably around what he could earn, but I think he's more valuable as a player than as a trade asset.

Calm the down. He is very valueable member of SA Spurs and he`ll stay here for the next two seasons. He`s value to Spurs is sky high. Rest of the league can suck it.

We've got to do a better job of preventing those fastbreaks. In Miami they will likely be dunks or fouls.

right now he can get max money easily, he's just the perfect fit for any backcourt player, that's valuable.

if he gets the mvp, would he be the first finals mvp not on a rookie contract not to be paid the max?
