He also didn't believe in giving him post touches in the 2nd half, opting to go with more pick&roll against the best pick&roll defense in the league, and ISO with Parker against Lebron James..
That is what pisses me off to no end.. Pop pulled Duncan twice one of the 10 best players of all time and the main reason the Spurs have 4 rings because he was scared... Because he didn't believe in Tim to do his job there.. He seriously didn't believe in Tim... That's why the Spurs won't win a 5th ring because Pop was scared about Tim Mother ing Duncan doing his job..... For 's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He also didn't believe in giving him post touches in the 2nd half, opting to go with more pick&roll against the best pick&roll defense in the league, and ISO with Parker against Lebron James..
He did it against GS. It worked then, and people applauded Pops gall to pull that off, and applauded Duncan for accepting it. Reactions are a fickle thing.
Duncan was playing bad in that game wasn't he??
Dude ripped off 17 boards tonight...
It worked, but I didn't applaud it. What was even worse is he saw what the previous possession with the off board cost us
But man on the other hand his faith in Manu is something to behold... It'd be hilarious if it wasn't tragic.
Ref whistle away from Manu helping us at the FT line.
I'm not supporting Manu, but that was a no call.
No doubt up 3 chance for 5 need a stop and what do u do? let's sit Duncan ....what?!
This bull is the same as Jackson telling Jordan to take a seat instead of checking his man with 28 seconds left in a close out finals...
Would never ing happen...
Pop can shove it up his ass at this point.
Pop should've just told him no, tbh
The refs were not going to reward Manu with a chance to win the game at the FT line after his spectacularly bad performance. That may be unfair, but that's how the NBA game is played - this ain't euro ball. Manu's flop-tastic reputation didn't help him either.
he took 5 steps before the no call.they could have called travel. don't blame this on the refs, blame it on ty coaching. that's basically it. what the fuk was he resting duncan for? the first game of the season in october?
1 FT away from not letting the game fall into the refs hands tbh.
Duncan just didn't have much going for him in the second half, shots just weren't there. He went pure beast MVP mode in the first half.
Hopefully he will be that in the second half of the next game.
I didn't
really want to blame Kawhi for his missed FT as well, but I cannot as he just played incredible instead of Manu
Playing Splitter to start the 4th and playing Diaw to defend at the end were questionable. Close out game of the finals, let the best player in franchise history win or lose, don't let 2 average players decide it. The Diaw one was a bad decision in retrospect, but the idea was good. I have no idea what Pop was thinking when sat his 3 best players for 3 minutes in the 4th quarter, letting the lead evaporate.
This is pretty important.
Pop just failed on so many levels. Great coach, but man did he it up.
And yet Pop force feeds more minutes to Ginobili when it was obvious he was costing the team possessions, then calls his number at the end of OT.
Pop that's all I have to say
He had 8 turnovers dude. End of story
For those who want to defend that decision:
The Heat needed a 3, so Pop pulled Tim. The Spurs needed a 3, and Spoelstra kept Bosh in the game.
Who was right?
Pop and Manu lost the game Pop trusted Manu who had 8 TO instead of Duncan who played well.....HE had no TO!!!!... you POP!!!!!
