Partially..
Tony wanted to be finals MVP..
To me this is honestly where the game was lost. That, and the atrocious decision to switch screens and put Tony on Lebron. It seemed as though Tony was actively ignoring Timmy in the 2nd half. He just refused to pass and put up some awful, low-percentage shots.
Why run so many high pick and rolls against the best pick and roll defense in the league? Why go away from a guy who was having a historic night? Fluke plays happen, guys miss FTs, Ray Allen is one of the greatest 3-point shooters ever, but I just can't get over the Spurs shooting themselves in the foot with stupid decision after stupid decision.
What's worse is that it looks as though Timmy twisted his knee at the end of the game, which will effectively eliminate our only advantage in this series.

unfortunately, I somewhat agree with this. danny green was open a number times in the 4th and ot, but tony just ignored him.
I really dont want to believe this, but its what I saw last night too.
Tim goes for 40 and Spurs win he gets finals MVP.. Tony and all his "This is my team now" babble.. Enjoy 2nd place Tony..
And leonard too.
I remember on one drive Parker ignored an open leonard who was parked at the strong side corner with the Heat focued on stopping Parker's wild drive.
Tony had some good looks. Just didn't fall last night.
if we didn't choke at the end TP was going to be the hero
No, he played bad defense and took terrible shots for the most part. The hero would've been Timmy/Kawhi/Diaw. Everyone else was bad-garbage. For me it wasn't Tony's missed shots, it was his refusal to pass and his attempting low-percentage shots that infuriated me.
Tony knows if the Spurs won game 6 Duncan might win the FMVP or Green. Duncan had an amazing night and TP was awful the whole night (4 pts in the 1st half).
Enough for Tony saying he promised Duncan he would win him a championship...huh? I cannot imagine Duncan would just like to ride on somebody else's back just to win one. He can be a contributor too if given the ball. And last night the first half is one indication Duncan is still a monster despite his age.
My friends are saying these things too and they are even fans of Parker.
Tony might have gotten a bit "hero ballish" but I don't think we can fairly ascribe him motivations such as stealing the MVP from Danny or Tim.
Like I said enjoy 2nd place Tony.. Tim could have brought us home.. Now it's too late unless a miracle happens in game 7..
