he'd be better off escaping inbred, racist, polluted Louisiana.
he'd be better off escaping inbred, racist, polluted Louisiana.
boutons he did drop some truth bombs.
happy this brotha finally saw the light. mike carroll has been trying to tell blacks about these sneaky liberals for the longest
If it would prevent the GOP from actively supressing the black vote, that is a good thing, IMO.
Democrats and Republicans should be competing to see who meets the needs of that part of the electorate.
That said, I think the gentleman in question will be shortly become just as dis-illusioned with his choice of party as he was with the Democrats. The modern GOP cares about africa-americans about as much as they care about illegal immigrants, and uses about the same language to describe both groups.
I think it is a good thing that this guy did what he did, even if he is an idiot.
-1 idiot Democrats...
+1 idiot Republican...
That is a two idiot difference after the switch.
I wouldn't call him an idiot because I don't have his perspective. However, he does seem to ignore the relativism of liberal v conservatism and the accompanying swings from party to party.
Suppress the black vote? How do they do that you lying liberal POS?
Anyway, for those interested, Senator Elbert Guillory makes a reasoned case for why he switched parties.
Have to love how the GOP trumpets every time they get a token minority. That would make 3 whole black GOP in Congress.
We need less branding and more policy.
You really think voter ID is about fraud? Then there is the whole gerrymandering thing.
It's ALL about fraud. The Democrats have cornered the market on voter fraud. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with asking someone who wants to vote to prove they ARE who they SAY they are. If they don't have proper ID prior to an election, they can take steps to get it. There are people who will help them get it. It's not that hard.
Obama has taken voter suppression to another level and installed people in positions of authority that he knows will do his bidding without him ever having to order it. The IRS scandal is a good example. Conservative groups who had pe ioned for tax exempt status had their request delayed for significant periods of time in order to hinder their efforts.
As far as gerrymandering, both sides have exploited redistricting. Laws should changed if we ever hope to stop that.
A Bobba Fett sock puppet? Wait, would that be a sock puppet's sock puppet?
so after all the volunteer vote monitors this past election, how much fraud did they find? how much fraud have they found in the last 50 years?
And outside of illinois where is all this democratic gerrymandering?
Our government isn't supposed to care about foreign nationals over their own citizens. Don't put blacks and illegals in the same category, they're not the same.
Illegals aren't this poor oppressed part of our population, they're not Americans at all.
GOP official, noting that "Voter ID will allow Romney to win Pennsylvania".
Study one from the Harvard Law & Policy Review noting the disproportionate impact of Voter ID laws championed by the GOP on poor and minority voters:
http://journalistsresource.org/wp-co...nd-Turnout.pdf
A balanced approach from fivethirtyeight:
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes...fication-laws/
1. Little evidence of the kinds of fraud that Voter ID laws is supposed to "fix", some evidence that voter ID laws would end up supressing the kinds of voters that tend to vote for Democrats, and a GOP official outright claiming that the law will deliver a state for a Republican candidate. As s my as I think some political operatives are, they generally aren't stupid. They know, but won't admit in public, what the real intent is. Pure cynical manipulation of the rules to benefit them politically.
That is the evidence for one part of the claim that the GOP supresses black voters.
2. The other part is the re-drawing of districts that favors GOP voters, by concentrating minorities who vote for Democrats in bizarrely shaped plots.
A rather detailed analysis:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/03/op...pagewanted=all
ANd... of course a very similar smoking gun do ent, put out directly by a GOP council bragging about how well their gerrymandering worked to swing things their way:
http://www.rslc.com/redmap_2012_summary_reportThe RSLC’s admission came in a shockingly candid report en led, “How a Strategy of Targeting State Legislative Races in 2010 Led to a Republican U.S. House Majority in 2013″. It details how the group spent $30 million in the 2010 election cycle to sweep up low-cost state legislature races in blue states like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Their efforts were so successful, in fact, that Republicans went from controlling both legislative chambers in 14 states before Election Day to 25 states afterward.
In turn, the new Republican majorities would be tasked with redrawing congressional districts for the 2012 election. “The rationale was straightforward,” the report reads. “Controlling the redistricting process in these states would have the greatest impact on determining how both state legislative and congressional district boundaries would be drawn.”
Both policy aims really had ONE goal, and one goal only, to suppress Democratic voters, who just happened to be... black, in more than a few cases.
The GOP does not care about, and actively has a distain for black people.
Sorry.
1+2=actively supressing black voters.
Not that hard to prove, but you sure as won't see it on Fox "news".
Put down the cool-aid, and look around.
http://www.rslc.com/redmap_2012_summary_reportREDMAP’s effect on the 2012 election is plain when analyzing the results: Pennsylvanians cast 83,000 more votes for Democratic U.S. House candidates than their Republican opponents, but elected a 13-5 Republican majority to represent them in Washinton; Michiganders cast over 240,000 more votes for Democratic congressional candidates than Republicans, but still elected a 9-5 Republican delegation to Congress. Nationwide, Republicans won 54 percent of the U.S. House seats, along with 58 of 99 state legislative chambers, while winning only 8 of 33 U.S. Senate races and carrying only 47.8 percent of the national presidential vote.
The sheer plurality of people in quite a few places voted for Democratic candidates rather then Republican ones, but since those people were so concentrated... the GOP still won more seats nationally.
Short term victory, but man did it piss us Democrats off, so it may not have been a long term winning strategy.
You seem to misunderstand. *I'm* not the one using the same language.
I am sayign the at ude in general of rank and file GOP is similar to both groups, as evidenced by a rather long litany of stupid remarks.
.
Prove it.
If it is that easy and pervasive, it should be fairly easy, you conservative POS.
Give me your reasons why you're against voter ID?
Reasons that will pass the laugh test.
Give me your reasons why you're against a poll tax, reading test, or education requirements for suffrage.
I just listed the reasons, along with peer-reviewed legal studies, and professional statistical analysis.
In case you missed it:
That is the way getting to the truth happens. I make a claim, I back it up to show that it has some basis in reality.
You have made a claim, it is your turn.
It is my regular contention that there a lot of conservatives out there who can't reason their way out of a paper bag, and who prefer "feel good" emo propaganda to actual facts. When people who want to identify themselves as conservatives start talking out their ass and can't back up their party-line bull , I win more evidence to support that.
I can show you studies that show voter fraud in the US, while existant, is so minor that it almost never affects larger elections, and have given you links to find that informaiton if you wanted to.
You do have some data to support the statement "Democrats have cornered the market on voter fraud."?? Or don't you?
Because you can't give me the honest answer, I'll answer it for you; You and most other liberals are against Voter ID because it doesn't allow Democrats to commit voter fraud. All that BS you cited above is just that,....BS.
Soooo... you got nuthin?
Your claim, your burden of proof.
I will ask you a third time:
Either you have evidence of voter fraud or you don't.
If you don't, I win. Pretty simple. Keep ignoring it, or better yet, keep running.![]()
Ok, how exactly is it BS.
Be specific.
You didn't actually read any of the links or studies, did you?
Everybody knows, if you didn't break the law if you didn't get caught.
It would be nice if politicos would be pushing and passing Voter ID laws now. Informing the public of the new requirements, etc. There's nothing inherently wrong with Voter ID taken in a vacuum...
But you don't see that happening... what you see is attempts mere months before the election to pass Voter ID laws requiring the voting population to meet new requirements, with very little publicity about such requirements.
That's when Voter ID gets a bad rep as a disenfranchisement tool...
