Boiling strings will work in a pinch because bass strings have a much stronger core, but they go to after you do it. Good for an emergency situation though.
If I were to restring my bass, the strings would cost more than I paid for the bass.

It's an old Stella Harmony. ty bass....sounds great tho.

It's really more along the lines of a bass-shaped object, tbh.

I usually played a pretty open mouthpiece so I usually went with a 3. I would work down a 4 on occasion with some reed rush tho.

My fave was a Meyer 6, medium chamber but I owned a 9 wide. That er took some wind.

I do, but I haven't even touched it in a couple years. And haven't played it seriously in far longer. Got too distracted by other interests.

I miss playing an instrument, though, so maybe I'll pick it back up when I have time again. Or maybe I'll start up instrument number five. Marimba has always seemed fun.

I think marimba would be quite humbling for me.

Flute, violin, and kinda piano. Kept up with all of them for a long time, but sax is the only one I ever really gave a about. I always wanted to play instruments, but my elementary school didn't let girls play sax until sixth grade, so flute and violin were just me biding my time.

Interesting...those are very technically challenging instruments....I suppose the marimba would fall into that category as well. Shocked you haven't picked up the harp yet.

I think that's the reason I picked them, as well as the reason I didn't really give a about them. I enjoyed the technical challenge, but I didn't have a passion for them like I did saxophone.

That's cool, anything music related wll work.

My thing is mixing. Love to make my own little productions, not unlike a DJ programming his show, his own playlist.

This one would be....obscure prewar blues. While all that old stuff is obscure to Joe Public, these are obscure to even most music historians. All on the same CD.

    Kid Cole
    Bo Jones
    Otis Harris
    Arkansas Shorty
    Slim Barton
    Bobbie Cadillac
    Seth Richards
    Eli Framer
    John D. Fox
    Lane Hardin
    Bobby Grant
    Charles "Dad" Nelson
    Elvie Thomas
    Louisiana Johnny & Kid Beecher
    Kid Brown
    Pigmeat Terry
    Geechie Wiley
    Buster Johnson
    Bluecoat Nelson
    Bull City Red
    Slim Duckett

......that is as low down, back in the alley as it can get, the absolute bottom of the barrell. It does not get anymore primitive.

Then there's Jim Thompkins and Freezone....both with just one song, yep, not even both sides of a record, just one song. Nobody having a clue who Freezone was.

Same with this guy. One of the many who were recorded in prison.
