I know he hasn't played a single game for the past season. But prior to his injury, he was arguably the best center in the league.

You want to bet the end of Timmy's career on a guy who has been injured for about half his career

Will cost too much for too much of an unknown.

I don't know if he'll get a max deal, but Philly gave up too much for him to not make him a solid offer that would have to be outbid.

Yes. It will be extremely difficult to get no. 5 anyway. Why not take some risk?

He could mentor DeMarcus Cousins if the Spurs can get him too.

no. More injury prone than Manu, huge mental midget (oxymoron, but it fits him), and not our biggest concern.

Biggest offseason concern should be finding a replacement for Manu imo. Way too unreliable to go forward with in the huge role he has now. Continuing to do so would just be to resign ourselves to failure going forward.

If Manu is to be brought back, it should be as the 3rd or 4th ballhandling option, NOT the 2nd. I can see Manu still being good if he's not being given such huge responsibilities which he simply can't deliver on consistently anymore. So I would rather the Spurs spend their money on a swingman who can replace Manu now and going forward.

Jarret Jack (within our price range and I could see him coming here), Monta Ellis (got paid less than Manu btw, but he probably get a max somewhere else), and there are other choices out there as well.

So he can sit on the bench against the Heat and Thunder?

There is possibility that he will be healthy.

The risk isn't just that Bynum might be too injured to play.

The risk is also all the players you would have to renounce and needs that can't be addressed elsewhere to work Bynum into the cap.

And why take SIGNIFICANT risk when you were 6 seconds from a championship?

It really depends on Bynum's market value. The spurs may be able to get him for cheap given he has been injured for one year.

Won't happen. Philly gave up too much for him to let him walk for peanuts. They may not offer him the max, but they'll make him a significant offer just the same.

The sacrifice Philly made is a sunk cost. From business point of view, offering Bynum a big contract to justify the loss of Iggy makes no sense.

just what the Spurs need. A defensively mediocre big man whose knees are so fragile he injures the bowling.

He was an excellent rebounder and shot blocker prior to his injury.

Only if we could get him for what we would have offered Splitter.

IOW Bynum over Splitter if the price is the same. Would never happen, but one can dream right?
