Wait, what did dirk do in the post season this year? I forgot...
I don't know but he did Miss one FT that cost them a le one year. I guess that dude forgets that. GOAT PF has 4 rings.

This to me though it's 06, we had a legit team that year and that was a damn threepeat! This year sucked bigtime but I had way higher expectations then and got into it alot more as a younging! That 06 one killed me as a fan for years.
You take the good with the bad. There are dozens of fanbases that would kill for the Spurs' agony. We're really lucky to even have a discussion like this year over year for nearly 15 years.

But to answer your question, it's 28 seconds and not even close.
I disagree on the 28 seconds because I did not expect them to be here and had higher expectations back then, but I agree fully with what you said first. 28 Seconds though was crazy, no way I thought they would give that up and they did.

So going to the finals and not making the playoffs are the same? Ok... I guess we're no better than the bobcats and wizards.

And yet he couldn't make a in wide open layup

dirk made a game winning layup in game 2 of the finals with a torn tendon in that hand
Your dirk could barely score against the warriors in his MVP season

Your dirk blew a 2 3/4 game lead against Dwhistle

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l50IKDVpDiM

He's a great player right up there with TD, but I just want to point out that even the greats make mistakes.

Yep, his missed FT that series was huge.

And Duncan was hobbled with a nasty ankle injury and carried us through 7 games vs. Ben Wallace, Sheed, and McDyess.

Duncan will win 50 for the 15th year in a row next year and very likely play deep into the playoffs and contend for a le once again. Will Dirk be watching it on TV again next year?

No, actual basketball game victories. Counting the playoffs, the Spurs won 32 more of them than the Mavericks this year. (And lost 11 fewer.)

On the plus side, y'all got a lot more fishing in.

Game 6 and that felt like the time when Timmy's 5th ring slipped away. Game 7 felt academic because of how easy Miami's shot were coming and how hard the Spurs' were. Then all the turnovers in the 4th really just made it feel like we didn't have a good chance despite the score being close.

Concerning Timmy though, this Finals appearance and loss actually improves Timmy's legacy some, it doesn't hurt it. There's something to be said for 4/4, but getting there a 5th time playing as well as he has been, and him playing those last two games like a in champ. . .Timmy really showed everyone what he's all about. He can still dig down and dominate even the Miami Heat at 37.

On the other hand, Manu's legacy takes a HUGE hit, and honestly, Pop's does too because of the poor decisions at the end. Tony's legacy doesn't really take a hit, but I think it regresses back to what it was before all the MVP hype despite the hamstring injury slowing him down.

Billy Paultz's phantom offensive foul in 1979. Cost the spurs a trip to the finals. They likely win their first le that year. it took another 20 years for that to happen. The first le is always the sweetest because it is the first time to the top.

28 seconds indeed. It tops the .4 as well as Strickland's no look pass and Gilmore failing to get the basket in the 83 WCF. The team could have had at least ten les but they have been snake bit.

Has to be game 7 for me. After game six I still had hope we would win game 7. Watching Timmys disappointment and the press conference was absolutely brutal to watch.

I think 28 seconds will always be the most painful, because it was our last real shot at Timmy's fifth.
I know that has been said a million times in the past and it's always been wrong, but I really do think it's correct this time.

Last year I felt like we'd be back, I wasn't too discouraged. But this year...man.

Some part of me is so mad. The Spurs are like that scene in Lord of the Rings where they have taken the ring and all they have to do is throw it in the lava for evil to be destroyed and they just walked away from the opportunity.

    Two things:

    1) Tim's "missed layup" was hardly an easy shot (and hardly a layup). A more accurate description would be "a sideways floating hook shot with a defender coming at you." That is not an easy shot by any means.

    2) Tim's missed sideways floating hook shot did not end the game. We were still down by 2 with 40 seconds left in the game. We could have made a stop and scored again for the tie or win. I knew at the time we still could have won. That shot was not the deciding factor at all.

To answer the poll, it's got to be Game 6 of the Finals, because we basically won the championship and then lost it again.

Yep. Only then and the years following will we truly realize what we had tbh.
I see where this is going and i respect what you say here, but I do understand sooner or later he will go when 'it's time' but as a guy who is as he is, i don't think its this year obviously hes coming back we can see that so will next year be his last? it depends on how good they are or bad if they return to the finals i mean shoot who knows he may come back again, but its so up in the air after that because you gotta see how hard it is to come back and if miami makes it back by some form its gonna be a "brawl for all" of all sorts of revenge from our side... as for when duncan officially leaves, ya its gonna be rough because you can't replace a guy of his talent, his greatness is unforgettable and yes game 6 (thanks a lot POP for PULLING your boy out when it mattered) but as we know; at some point Duncan will indeed go and the team will feel the missing part of which he carried for them for so long but every team loses that part, and its a process to find something new. Duncan gets a statue, gets hall of fame, has 4 rings, has a record what was it? passing chamberlain in playoffs for double doubles or something right--whatever it was, greatness will never be replaced but something has to come in for him eventually, even with wet feet, memories never die they live on! Duncan 4 EVER!

Manu and Pop cost Tim Duncan his 5th ring by choking up in Game 6.
