Eh i think the name calling started when Manu got drafted and there were some overly excited people on the board ( well, to according to Sequ's perception), he got trolled heavily later on after Manu started to get minutes. It was pretty obviously Manu was a special player from the get go.
I think Sheed called him that or mispronounced his name, that was after a game against the C's back in the '10-'11 season. I just can't find an article about it, though I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere.
I believe sequ called him that because he was raw about the spurs choosing to keep manu over some other guy nobody remembers anymore. At the time, that player whose name I can't remember had a couple of good games and manu was on the bench. Quickly after, he called manu that.
