Pops love for Wade/Bron postgame shows he's lost that inner fire to truly dominate and decimate his opponents. I couldnt stand him hugging and kissing and smiling with Bron/Wade after costing us game 6 (taking out duncan) and game 7 (not playing Diaw enough)

Pop has been FANTASTIC for us, but it might be time to hang em up.. let someone else take over coaching duties.. someone hungry , someone youthful, and someone energized to win.. let Pop takeover Spurs front office/GM ala Pat Riley.. what do yall think?

I think that's ridiculous. Congratulating another shoes that someone has lost the fire to compete?

Agreed, he just doesn't have it anymore, pass the torch to Manu as HC and kill two birds in one stone.

No. If anyone can compete and still keep a big picture perspective at the same time, its pop. If anything the post game 7 hugs showed me that the spurs are the most respected team in the league by other teams.

If Pop's reaction at the end of the series surprised you, you haven't really been paying attention to him for very long.

Dude's lost it over the years
    fell in love with smallball
    adjusting to the opponent
and Matt Bonner most of all

Popovitch didnt need some bs system excuse to throw guys like Mohammed/Rasho in the fire when they were first acquired
these days itll take at least 2 years til a guy gets some minutes despite being the clearly better player and then finally get rotation minutes his third year

I wanted Bud to take over HC but that obviously cant happen now
Pop should stay in a management role or advisor but he just doesnt have the fire of other elite head coaches like Thibs

I agree. Pop should have shanked them when they came in for a hug.

OP should take on some less prominent role around here, too. Like maybe not starting threads. Not so much because OP has lost his compe ive fire, as that OP is a moron.

You're right. Let's fire pop for showing sportsmanship. while we're at it lets dump this entire team for showing sportsmanship and congratulating the Heat after game 7.

Sure wish we had a crybaby like LeBron that only shows sportsmanship when he wins. That's the kind of at ude we need isn't it?

    OP is an absolute genius.

    Ok, a slightly different opinion...

Pop got out-coached and his players got out-played. He was giving credit where credit is due. LeBron was the best player on the court. Wade stepped up like he had hoped Ginobili would but never did.

Giving credit to Wade and Lebron like he did ONLY MAKES HIS OWN accomplishments look better. Anytime you raise your opponent up, you look better in the process.

if you watch closely, wade and lebron ran over to pop and then to duncan, even before their own teammates and coaches...thats how much respect they have for the spurs...

like a little brother who wants the older brother approval, thats how i would compare wade and lbj behavior after their win... no question they look up to pop and timmy and see no reason why not embrace them...

Never understood fans who try to tell athletes and coaches how to celebrate a win or handle a loss tbh.

I've been coaching for almost 20 years. I've never ended a game where opposing teams didn't congratulate one another after game was over. Even those coaches I didn't particularly care for we would still shake hands. What kind of example would we send to the players, fans, community if we would let something as miniscule as a game dictate decorum?
I've even had situations where some of my former players were now playing on opposing teams. Players that I had known for years. I wouldn't let a loss in a game end a friendship with the player and their parents.

I also never understood the hate for LeBron and D-Wade. You might not like the face that they teamed up together or the non-stop media hype. But they've always been pretty classy dudes when it comes right down to it tbh.

I agree with this and someone should post the gif - if only to show Pop grinning and hugging like a moron. You'd have thought HE just won the in' le by that show of sucking ass.

Sportsmanship - yes- that is one thing. Shake their hand - walk away and go support Timmy and your own team -

Senility - Blowing the in' series with stupidity and then grinning like a moron and rubbing against the winners and celebrating.

    There is a difference.
