As I said in the 2013 draft thread, Carmichael is my favorite SA target with the late 1st round pick.

Quite underrated player, totally under the radar.

He is a good post up player, he can face up, he can score on P&Rs, he is a solid defender and a very good rebounder. He is not higher on most mock drafts mostly because he is old for his draft class (23 y/o already) and has average size (7'0 wingspan though).

Considering that SA has no young prospect at the position and they probably want someone that can contribute right now, I feel that Carmichael might be a good target. Draftexpress has him as an early 2nd (33th pick).

He has a "news anchor" type name; that is the extent of my college basketball scouting, since I don't watch it, lol.

After having read/seen the stuff about him on DX, he seems to be a terrific fit for Spurs.

Reminds me of Kenneth Faried. Watching the 'draftexpress.com' video he has a high motor and looks like a great rebounder.

I'm not feeling it. Unless the Spurs are confident they can teach him a good jump shot, he's really not that good of a fit for the current roster. I'd much rather use a first on Neal's replacement.

This is just based off the video and scouting report, and the limited number of Hawks games I've seen, but it seems like he might be an Ivan Johnson type-player. Probably not close to as good as Johnson is though.

Here's the pre-draft workout and interview video

That's Carmichael NBA Scouting report video from draftexpress. Love those scouting videos. I've seen a lot of them by now.

Looks mature and down to earth on the interview.

It looks like he has been working a lot on his jump-shot, Pick & Pop situations, something that might be pretty useful for SA. Still my favorite with that late 1st round pick. Grabbing him with the 2nd round pick would be a massive steal, but I don't think he falls that much.

He probably goes late 1st/early-mid 2nd depending on his workouts.

Excellent form on his shot. His shooting elbow never goes outside the frame of his body.

Carl Landry part deaux? Landry had a better jumper in college but I think he could easily become that type of player. Not fully sold on the Spurs reaching for him with a first but he is definitely intriguing.

WTF gives you the idea that we are losing Bonner? If this was the summer of 2014 I could see that but he is still under contract. Pop loves the guy and I don't see him EVER playing in another uniform. GET OVER IT.

We'll know in two days. His contract because guaranteed then. If nothing at all happens, he's staying. If anything happens (waived, traded, extending his deadline), he's leaving.

And yes, I'd like to see this kid in Vegas. He seems like a good bench big, especially if the team can stash him in Austin without having to use a roster spot.

Or gets his deadline extended. Pretty much, if the Spurs are in the news for anything transactions that do no involve filling out their summer league roster, it means he's probably leaving. His contract is the only time-sensitive thing for the main roster.
