You have to admit that their two main targets this year (Josh Smith and AI) are much better than Gordon and Charlie V though.
'Eh, everyone loved Gordon back when he was in Chicago.

I know Barg sucks, but NY has very little means to improve. Barg can score and maybe being a 3rd option instead of a lead guy will help. Likely not, but NY has very little assets and they need more help.

    3. Josh Smith, F, Atlanta Hawks
Smith, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, is open-minded about returning to Atlanta, one league source said. Smith and new Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer have had some conversations since Budenholzer was recently hired. Smith, 27, respects Budenholzer's background as Gregg Popovich's longtime assistant with the San Antonio Spurs. Smith's representation is still working on trimming down a long list of interested teams to a smaller group for meetings likely to take place in Los Angeles this week. Dwight Howard's decision is expected to affect Smith's options.

    5. Al Jefferson, F/C, Utah Jazz
The Jazz would like to re-sign both of their big men, Jefferson and Paul Millsap, sources said. But the price tag could ultimately be too high, especially considering Utah already has some young, promising bigs in Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter. Utah also acquired the draft rights to center Rudy Gobert. Where Dwight Howard lands will likely have an effect on Jefferson's eventual destination. Atlanta general manager Danny Ferry was a big fan of Jefferson's when Jefferson entered the draft out of high school. Dallas also is expected to be interested.

    8. Tyreke Evans, G/F, Sacramento Kings, restricted FA
Evans flew to Los Angeles on Saturday to meet with agent Arn Tellem in preparation for free agency, a source said. Evans' preference is to re-sign to a long-term deal with the Kings. He recently moved into a new huge home in the Sacramento suburb of Rocklin. The 23-year-old has been spending most of his offseason in Sacramento and has been regularly working out at the Kings' practice facility. New Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro showed some interest in keeping Evans by making him a qualifying offer, which made Evans a restricted free agent.

It certainly seems like New York is preparing for life after JR Smith. With him, Evans and Mayo on the market, someone could probably be had for decent money.

It's a decent trade for the Raptors. They need good shooters to complement their chuckers. Camby is a good trade asset as well as a decent bench big. They just have to move one of their scoring wings for a better big man to pair with Valanciunas.

'Eh, everyone loved Gordon back when he was in Chicago.
Don't get me wrong, I know that both Gordon and Villanueva were sought after during that offseason - but I think many were shocked to see the deals once they were inked. The Pistons s ed out a LOT of money for an incoming FA to be their 6th man. I don't think too many will be surprised if Josh Smith gets a max deal and AI gets $10M+ per.

Giving up a first round pick is re ed. The Craptors were probably happy enough to have NY take his salary(you can tack on an extra 1.1 million for the trade kicker too) but talking them out of a first rounder is highway robbery.

Does anyone believe a team will give more than the mini mid level exception for Blair?

Blair will sit on the sidelines until the well dries up then some team left on the wall will throw a couple million a year at him.

I have a feeling someone will offer Neal a 3+ mil contract and I cannot see the spurs matching that. I do not see a team going for broke with him cause most teams realize the spurs will match most offers, I seem him coming back at around 8 mil per year for 3 more seasons.
I'd be really surprised. I think the QO the Spurs made is right around his market value.

I agree, Blair will sign with Atlanta. Coach Bud played him and got results when he filled in as coach. I still think Spurs could have used him more in the playoff run.

The more and more I think on it, the more I'm sure the Spurs won't do anything in the FA market. IMO Spurs are going to make some sort of trade or stand pat (sigh...).

I wish Blair the best. The guy didn't act out when he was benched or when he got zero PT. He cheered harder from the sidelines than anyone not named Patty Mills tbh. Hope het gets picked up and plays well.

Too bad they gave up Ed Davis. They still have Amir, but we will see how he continues to play.

This. I would be fine if the team stayed the same if our best players were 25 years old, but with Tim and Manu over 35 this team needs changes. I just don't get the Spurs FO sometimes. Tim should slap someone that brought some pathetic bigs that can't help him under the rim.
