Yup. It's not that horrific of a contract (only 11M avg for 2 years so it's short) but the point remains. I think there was some decent interest in Bargs behind the scenes for this to happen. Maybe teams like him as a 3rd offensive option if you can cover up his defense (which Tyson does).
I think they caved way too quickly. If they would have refused to give the first they might not have gotten the deal done immediately, but I think Toronto would have caved eventually. It's still not great to have to pay Bargs that much but not giving the pick makes the deal worlds better.

They needed someone with some upside (even if it's minimal) from a big man perspective. Outside of Novak, all their bigs can't score. They have basically no trade assets so I'm not sure they could have gotten anyone any better tbh..

That's not the point. Stretch bigs are popular and you have to have someone who can score up front.

I lve it. Nets and Knicks both give away future 1st round picks when they're both going to be in the lottery. Ghost of Isiah runs NY son

Knicks' agreement to acquire Andrea Bargnani viewed by other team execs as predictable response to rival Nets' spending spree.

impressive trade, not only they unloaded the wors contract in the league, they even got a great 3point shooter in a team that had none and a first rounder..knicks going full knicks mode.

    1. I had no idea that Isiah Thomas was still the GM for the Knicks.
    2. If they wanted an inefficient jumpshooting 7 footer who doesn't defend or rebound they could of have Byron Mullens for cheap.
    3. Giving away first round picks for Bargnani? Really. This is just as stupid as the Grizzlies giving up a 1st round pick for Jon Leuer earlier this year.
