Too bad Asik's contract is awful. Don't know who's going to take that on. But I'm sure some bottom-feeder team will.

Huh? He's one of the best defenders in the league for bigs and he rebounds well. He is living up to his contract IMO.

It's not that bad. 8 million a year is fair value for a solid starting center.

I wouldn't mind putting Asik next to Duncan, tbh.

I am pretty sure a lot of teams would take Asik and that contract is not bad at all.

8m/year is good value for a defensive beast like Asik.

I would trade Splitter for Asik in a heart-beat.

True, I should've specified. It's just backloaded. Owed $15 million in 2014. But if he can repeat last year's #'s, then it's worth it.

I think most teams will be scared off by that poison pill - but I agree with you, some team will eagerly trade for Asik considering his size/productivity.

This really needs to be on everyones clipboard, the topic of Asik/Lins 'backloaded' deals comes up every week.

It seems the bad decisions that hampered game 6 and 7 have now found their way into the off season.

Bonner, 4 mil? For what he does now for the team, that is just bad business.

I wasn't aware of the stipulation in Asik's poison pill. Thanks for clarification.

I think that the $8M a year is a bit deceiving (which is actually $10M/yr) considering that it is backloaded and can virtually cripple a teams cap/plans to bring in FAs.

Stern stepping in to save his hometown team, probably gonna make them take the picks out, tbh....

It's pretty obvious why they would ship out Asik, but why Lin?

He's awful for them. For many reasons, but most importantly is he is a PG that needs the ball in his hands. He can't play off the ball effectively at this point in time. That's a lot of money for a bad fit and if they can bring in someone more steady and well equipped to play next to Harden, that's huge.

That tweet is misguided. Asik's and Lin's contracts are indeed 5/5/15. They just count for $8.3 Million against the cap because their original teams did not match. The Arenas provision made the Rockets offer that deal, and the terms of the offer sheet do not change based on if it's matched or not.
