Good call OP!
Splitter can be a key cog on a serious championship contendor (in reality his team played at an NBA Champion level this season). He was a very key component in getting the Spurs to the finals guarding bigs.
He stuggled against Miami, but other players did too - some struggled in six out of seven games that were supposed to be big time players.
Ask yourself this question - if Tiago Splitter was availale for last week's draft, where would he go? I would say top five easily.
Yeah, the Tiago haters (Manu haters too) just simply don't know basketball. if they did, they would be working for the Spurs or some other team right now.
Ok genius. How many NBA Finals have the Spurs reached within the last 5 years? Get lucky that Tim Duncan has had a renaissance these past two years. He's not eternal. FO needs to sign a couple of free agents if they want to go all the way. Pop and Manu owe Timmy #5.![]()
Sorry to pop your bubble, but nobody owes anybody anything in this world. It is what it is. The whole team lost that finals, not one or two people.
An argument could be made that the handwriting was on the wall after the game 6 loss, either Miami was due to lose 2 in a row or win two. Unfortunately they won two. I'll always be a Spurs supporter regardless if they win or lose. They lost fair and square this time is all, IT IS ONLY A GAME, not life or death! Get a life!
That "we win together, we lose together" at ude is a BS excuse to use on these NBA Finals. Granted everyone made mistakes at some point, but you can't defend Manu for turning the ball over 8 times in Game 6, and Pop's countless amount of terrible decisions down the stretch. They both fuc*ed up and cost Timmy #5. There is no other way around it.
You could argue though that the Spurs were a piece or two away from the 'ship. Tiago was passable, but not spectacular. Manu is a s of his former self. This is where I wouldn't mind losing Tiago for, say, LaMarcus Aldridge or Paul Millsap or DeMarcus Cousins. Tiago is all right, but we could use someone better up front. We could've used, rather.
I don't mind if dude gets paid $10M+ but not with the Spurs. Doesn't deserve $8M, even. Reason he's getting that much is cause SAS won't have much of a choice if someone offers him more than he deserves. If we're paying $8M for him I'd rather have Millsap instead while TD plays center. Or Big Pek.
That's something they've got to correct. There's not enough accountability on the team. It's fine to lose/win together but guys have to be accountable. If you're throwing the ball away or missing defensive rotations you've got to be accountable. The accountability has to start at the top. If Pop doesn't have it no one else will.
I sure as don't want to loose Splitter and have to get gusy like Nazz/Rasho/Ian..etc..
Ohhhhhh, but you know hoops. Which NBA front office do you work in?
Rasho was considerably better than Splitter.
Well, hot damn you were right!![]()
told ya
anyway 4/36$ is a good deal for the Spurs and Tiago
I love how average SFs spend their time on this board saying D is everything and the same mainly NASFs about the Spurs signing Splitter. With Duncan and Tiago on the floor the Spurs are a damn good at playing Defense.
Splitter is a nice complement to Duncan, the fact that Tim has been in such a good shape almost all year has imo something to do with playing with a legit mobile big defensive minded big.
in before I will look like a fool when Spurs trade this contract![]()
I-I think he got paid.
And Im sure your not biased with your username, no, not at all. I hope Splitter uses his new contract as motivation and not a reason to relax because he got his. Yeah, you predicted him getting paid, did you predict his total uselessness in the Finals?
It's hard to be useful when you're not getting minutes.
who the are you nob ?
