plus an expiring....not a bad Haul for the Lakers...ship Dwight's ass out...
http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/7/1...ba-free-agencyIf the Warriors can't sign Howard outright, they would be willing to work on a sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers. CBS Sports' Ken Berger reports there have not been any trade talks between the two teams, meaning any such thought is still in the works on Golden State's end.
Golden State of Mind: More on the Warriors' offseason
The Warriors could offer the Lakers a package of Andrew Bogut and either Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes, according to Thompson.
But Golden State also has options to keep its core together. A deal of Bogut and the expiring contracts of veteran swingman Richard Jefferson or big man Andris Biedrins would give Los Angeles much-needed cap relief a year down the road. The belief in the Warriors' camp is that they can provide the Lakers with the most options if Los Angeles wants any sort of return on Howard.
Golden State obviously considers Stephen Curry one of the key selling points for Howard, but it remains to be seen whether the team can acquire Howard with Curry, Thompson and Barnes still on the roster. Curry is the least likely to be dealt and is involved in the Warriors' recruitment of Howard.
"Could" No way they give Thompson/Barnes away.
With the disgrace that has become LAL, they said they wont do a S&T for Dwight. Let's see if they are welshers on their word like their fans.
They can offer the moon but if Dwight doesn't want to be there then its pointless.
what a subtle stinger
They would also be getting rid of one of their shooters for a like Bible Kemp
Between Curry, Mark Jackass, and B-Kemp, that would be one of the most hateable teams of all time, tbh....
whats ur beef with mark jackson, and curry tbh?
Curry is a 14-yo-girl-looking guy, that makes millions playing his favorite game and celebrates too much when he makes a three pointer.
CN is just being salty,tbh..
Mark Jackass is a two-faced Jeebo and Curry is y and annoying as , tbh....
tbh, curry entertains me. i got no problem with it, all young players are like that.
Mark Jackson took a unexperienced young as team to the playoffs, where they gave SA a run for their money, call it what ever you want fluke shooting, curry getting hot, what ever. Thats what happened, aside from the PO, they were pretty good all year.
Yeah me too,he's a fun player to watch..Even if he overdoes it sometimes, isn't he supposed to be passionate? What the does he play for? (other than money)
exactly![]()
Dont want Bogut tbh ...
Barnes or Klay plus a pick is fine. Id rather have Carl Landry than Bogut ...tbh dude has never been the same since "The people's elbow"
Jeff in LA??!
negro, that's all you had to say!
Cool. Make it happen, Mitch! Get Klay or Barnes and a future unprotected draft pick.
Per @Mike_Bresnahan, the Lakers would rather let Dwight Howard walk than sign-and-trade him and pay luxury tax on Bogut, etc.
Probably a bluff, a rumor but what I don't understand is why the Lakers won't do it? Bogut expires next season IIRC.
^Because it's untrue. GS will not trade the kids. No. & Bogut is garbage.
Come to think of it, Warriors does have a better starting 5 than Houston if they get Dwight.
Dwight
Lee
Jarret Jack
Thompson
Curry
That's 3 legit three point shooters surrounding Dwight. GSW also has plenty of expiring deals (R.Jefferson, Biedrins, Rush) to acquire talents in 2014 or 2015.
Just realized Jerry West is a consultant for the Warriors, could be a big chip in recruiting Dwight. He knows how to build a winning team.
I think the reality of the situation is this. Barnes and Thompson though good, young players, are simply not worth getting hit by a luxury tax since the Lakers would absolutely need to take another contract to make it work (Bogut). I can see why they would really rather let Dwight walk. I know its one year, but the Lakers will get killed by luxury tax for getting players they don't even want.
