Manu speaks Spanish, and that's worth 7 mil a year to the Spurs.

There's no basketball reason to pay a scrub that much money. And that's what Manu is at this point, a scrub.
solid take tbh although i always thought of Spurs as a refuge for French soft asses

i can't make fun of the meltdown. i would join in but i'm patient enough to see how the rest of the free agency goes. We might have some surprises around the all star break. I know the Spurs look at the big picture better than most. That being said, if we're putting our hopes in Tiago or Manu, plus willing to pay Neal better money, then I don't like our chances.

I'd take it over picking up someone like Big Al or Monta and finding out the new chip doesn't fit ( Richard Jefferson). It's also going to take some time before the new guy gets used to the Spurs system (takes about a year or so). Solid pick-up. Kirilenko still at play for MLE.

it's unfair for manu to take the whole responsibility and blame for the finals defeat imho. Dude won you game 5, and it wasn't his mistake that your role players (notably Danny Green) built a house with bricks in the crucial game 7

Only because it was a means to the end (Charlie Potatoes). Once it failed you were mashed potatoes with the other 28 of us.

Meh. The only threat to the Spurs in the West just lost their 3rd leading scorer for the 2nd year in a row.

Teams very rarely go the Finals 4 years in a row.

No team has really significantly yet improved outside of Brooklyn and they're still not a legit contender.

Even if the Spurs bring back the same team, I like their chances of getting back to the Finals tbh.

There is no difference. You make the playoffs. You win the last game you play. There is nothing else.

Game 6 ing hit me right in the nuts just like anyone else, but goddamn that doesn't mean you out and wished we never got there. Some of you guys take this too seriously, this was a great playoff run and i enjoyed every minute of it. If you cant get past 6, then it sucks to be you.

That's a cop out. "too seriously" because you lost. If you'd a won the ceiling would be the limit for your emotional state. You can't be a piss pot loser and then expect be anything else as a winner. You must suffer the slings & arrows of outrageous fortune and let it bleed out. To force a compress on that gash is pussy. You'll "die" yes, but, you'll be reborn & resurrected in victory. I died in '84. I was very fortunate to rise a year later. That may well happen to you as well, or, you may linger in the winds for years, but, your soul will be pure.

good point. the sad truth is Spurs don't have tons of options because it's not like FAs are beating down the door to come here. I think some seek us out, but a lot don't. So if that means overpaying Manu again to keep the Central and South American fans happy, it's not the end of the world.

Since we can't be the ultimate FA destination (tbh not sure if there is a number 1 anymore, as the Begging has taught us), we hang our hat on our ability to scout and develop, and we tend to have pleasant surprises with that. I have a lot of faith in Kawhi taking it to another level, but I'm just as interested in Nando and CoJo's growth.

Perhaps this new CBA is doing its thang, preventing any team from massively improving. If the CBA has that effect, Spurs should be in better shape for the future.

    Good point.

The Begging truly signifies the end of an era. It shows how the mighty have fallen when Clyde Drexler and a skype date with Yao can be enough to lure the marquee FA from the marquee FA destination.

Hopefully, we are getting our first glimpse of the new NBA landscape.

Nothing to cop out. I wanted the Spurs to win and they didn't. It sucked but life goes on. Just like it continues even if they had won. In the end, its just basketball.

That's a cop out. If you'd a won you'd be equating it with the happiest times in your life and you'd be en led to that conviction. Only you can judge your heart, marz. If you're going to play "it's just a game" you don't belong on this Board. You're not worthy.
