DeMarre Carroll gets a two year, $5 million deal with the Hawks, league source tells Y!
Wow, the Belinelli signing looks better now in comparison.

Carroll plus renting Millsap and giving Korver big money when they should be tanking? For as good a guy as Ferry is, he is a terrible GM. He opens up cap space but then uses it to bring in pieces that at best will make the second round if the East sucks again? He F'ed up the Cleveland situation and he remains clueless.

I feel bad for Bud already.

Atlanta is trying to gather every ex-Jazz player it seems. Mo Williams and Foye next?

I would take Asik over diaw
he would be great to be the third big
Only if the Spurs signed Kirilenko too.

Bucks still have pleny of room to make AK at big time offer. They shouldn't, but they're a poorly run franchise, so they don't need a good reason to make a bad decision.

At this point I expect some team finds a way to offer him a deal starting at 8, or he just goes back to Europe.

Free agent rankings: Josh Smith, Nikola Pekovic and Monta Ellis at the Top 3 now. http://po.st/9UDoFG

So is it pretty much a given that Minnesota will match anything thrown at Pek?

While Milsap very likely > Smith for winning basketball, you are correct. It's just moves to accept being mediocre. They did have an interesting draft so maybe they just cant bring themselves to tank and will just try to sign small contracts (year-wise) until they land a FA and some draft picks develop.

Do you think Teague and Hortford want to Tank, both of those guys are compe ors and wouldn't do such a thing. It would be like asking Duncan and Spurs to tank back when the Lakers won 3 straight les. They didn't, they shuffled FA and draft picks until they find the right combination. That 9mil dollar deal is a great deal for Millsap. They can easily turn around and trade him next year.

Milllsaps PF, Hortford C, Carroll SF, Williams SG and Teague PG is a pretty damn good starting five and Korver as a 6th man.

I think the Hawks are trying to find a suitor like the Pistons to trade Josh Smith for a 1st round pick in next year's draft. I am not surprise they didn't go the Asik/Lin direction. Word is Rockets and Hawks talked an Asik trade but it quickly fell apart probably b/c the Hawks were asking for Parsons as well.

I would feel sorry for Bud if he was coaching a crappy team like the Celtics after making the Finals with the Spurs.

I would have to think so, yes. Unless they can land someone they like to replace him in a S&T or something.

The Wolves can match any offer from Pekovic without having to worry about going into the tax. I think they'll keep him.

Look, if I am LA what they should do is amnesty Kobe and trade Pau for young player(s) and a pick(s). At a bare minimum, they should trade Pau for the same thing and at least amnesty MWP. That gets them under the cap, maybe a young player and an extra pick plus no LT payment.

I could see Minny or CLE jumping to land Pau and giving a solid piece and a pick. But Kobe's emo twitter pictures and ego won't allow it.

Make no mistake though, especially combined with last season's debacle, this was a devastating blow

I hope another team offers pekovic a huge deal with Minny matching so they'll forget about Ak47. Now with Millsap out of the question, who would be a good plan B option for a small ball PF?

Assuming that the Kevin Martin deal goes through as a free agent signing, Minny can't sign AK47.

The Lakers can't amnesty Kobe, because someone will pick him up. Trading Gasol, amnestying World Peace and stretching Steve Nash should be on the agenda now, though.

They shot themselves in the foot and they're about a mile away from there car. They're bleeding out slowly starting with this offseason. By the time they get to All Star Break they'll be passed out and not even a busted up Kobe will save them..

Can't they amnesty kobe and sigh him for less? I doubt Kobe would leave LA even if they amnesty him. Metta would be a solid back-up for kawhi if they do decide to amnesty him. I'm sure he's more than willing to accept a vet minimum.

To think that bonner would be our go to matchup with Duncan on the bench..NO...The reason bonner did good against him was because he was beyond pissed off with his team sucking the whole series. Losing your cool can do that just saying.
I didn't say Bonner would be the go to guy. I was just giving him credit for doing a good job on Howard. Which he did. Making stuff up is a really terrible way to get a point across.

If they amnesty him then someone would have to pick him up for his current salary right? Who has 30Million available? Plus he won't be around til February

Firstly, they can't re-acquire him after they've amnestied him until his original contract expires. So no re-signing him for at least year.

Secondly, it's not Kobe's choice to leave the Lakers if amnestied. If he gets claimed, he has to report to that new team.

No. They just have to pick him up for whatever they bid. Someone could end up with him for just over the minimum if the auction goes their way.

Damn, I was under the impression that the lakers didn't have to pay if someone picked him up for his contract deal of they'd pay his full deal off the books.. Well, I mean even then that's kinda a good deal for LA.
