Pau, too.
Did Kome Seriously Unfriend Dwight!??
Pau, too.
i'm wondering who goes after bynum now
Dallas..
Casspi is horrible.
I like the way you think, tbh.
I like the way you think, tbh.
Dallas and Atlanta are the most likely candidates. Philly has his Bird Rights.
Did not realize you got bolded.
That must be some kind of record. DMC had to reach 20k plus and guys like shadowflows with over 15k are still gray.
Well deserved. One of best new posters in the spurs forum.
Yep. He posted a pic on Instagram of he and Gasol hugging too. So petty and childish. Great entertainment though.
Thanks. It happened during the Finals.
IMO, there is absolutely no chance Kobe plays for another team assuming he get's amnestied. With his injury, personality and status, no one would claim him. Even if he did get amnestied, since he is an expiring contract, he would not re-sign in the event he is claimed (which would cut down on what LA owes Kobe).
I just don't see the risk there.
Exactly. It's quite likely with his injury he won't even play for a year, so they could definitely re-sign him with very little risk of him playing a single game for someone else.
About the jersey sales and tickets...Kobe isn't selling jersey's if he is not on the court. As dumb as Laker fan is, they would know the drill if Kobe gets amnestied. No other team would benefit either because everyone and their momma would report on what LA's plan is.
I highly doubt that an older Kobe, coming off of a gruesome injury, will be rushed back to play in LAL this season when is team is in shamble and has very little shot at a playoff spot.
Lakers are on an absolute bind. This is the perfect season for them to tank. The only guy on the books next season is Nash. The problem is if Cancer comes back early, he'll help the team win enough games to lose on a high pick.
My guess: they're going to flip that Gasol expiring and probably Nash into two pieces (which I don't know who they are, but should be relative marquee names... Monta?)
Dude, Kobe having one of his best seasons ever, with Dwight/Pau/Metta/Earl Clark/Nash....could barely make they playoffs. They now have an injured Kobe (who likely won't be ready for the start of the season), no Dwight, no Earl Clark and no real money to add to their roster.
They are a lottery team even if they stay pretty healthy IMO.
I expect Cancer to come back with a vengeance. This slap wasn't just on the franchise but on him. And what's going to happen is they're going to feast on the mul ude of teams that are going to be tanking for the Wiggins ticket. Cancer has too big an ego to throw games away, and Pringles knows his job is on the line.
The alternative is the medical staff shutting Cancer out for the season, in which case it's much more likely they go full tank, which is what they should really do.
Lots of team are going to be lottery teams, but if you're going to do it this season, you gotta do it to really try to be at the top of the draft.

It's not a matter of will, but ability. Do you honestly think Kobe has it in him to have a better season than he did last year? In isolation, it was one of his best seasons ever and that was not enough to even guarantee a playoff spot on a stacked team. The team is no longer stacked and they have no real means of improving.
I guess I just don't see any way outside of some crazy trades (which is possible with LA, but I can't even think of an imaginary far fetched scenario that would help) how they can be anything more than first round fodder. At best. But this is all moot and we know LAL, after being so wounded from last year's failure combined with this slap will puff out their chests and do the opposite of what they should do for the good of their franchise. They will cater to their ego instead because that's who their leader is and they ultimately know that any damage they do can likely be undone with their built in advantages they have always had.
Now I just don't want Rockets to get Ryan Anderson as well.
They're trying to trade Asik for him. Anderson would be perfect for them now.
I don't think he'll be better than last season, but I think MWP/Gasol/Nash/Cancer has enough to win enough games in this weak West where they kill whatever odds of having a top 10-15 pick in the draft. I think the start of the season will be telling. If Nash sits out with "back spasms", Cancer has a "set back" on his recovery, and Gasol has a "knee flare", then you know they'll be tanking. But otherwise, I think they know they can win enough to kill their Wiggins meal ticket for next season, and under those conditions, I see where the Lakers try to get a couple of new names just to make some buzz and get some attention.
I agree. I think here egos will prevail over what's sound for the franchise. I'm running with the Cancer schtick for the season, and it's never been more true than right now.
So if Kobe is worse and the team overall is worse (Nash, MWP & Gasol were all there last season too), how could they do better than last year? Last year was barely a playoff team and if they are any worse, they are a lottery pick team.
Even if they finish like Portland last season (33-49) that only gives them about 1.1% chances in the lottery for the top pick. Might be even less. Last season was a season with only a few teams actively tanking because this was a weak draft. I expect many more teams to tank hard looking at a strong draft. They're definitely lottery bound, but this is a draft where you want to jockey for position to be as close to the top as possible.
EDIT: I didn't say they were going to be better than last season. Just that they'll win enough games to kill their chances for a high pick (which is what you want to have on a strong draft)
Oh, I see what you are saying. I thought you were saying they would make the playoffs or something and not even get a top 14 pick.
Either way, no matter where they are at in the lottery, it's quite clear what path they should take from where things stand today. Maybe something will shake loose (with LAL, it always seemingly does) that will change the variables, but either way, they are likely headed for a bad season and cap space next year with only Nash on the books (barring them trading for someone with a longer contract or signing a FA...).
The point is they should get as much as they can this year as well vs foolishly holding on to what little assets they have too long and paying any Luxury Tax.
They should flip Nash/Gasol for some cheap, short term contracts and more picks for the next draft. You know, the lopsided trades they normally do. And tank hard.
The problem is that I see Cancer sabotaging a plan like that.
At a minimum they should do that plus amnesty MWP, but I agree, they likely wont.
