Really can't blame Dallas for going after Bynum, tbh. On a short deal the risk isn't that high considering the position they're currently in.

Curious but would a healthy Bynum with a rejuvenated Dirk plus Marion, Calderon, a top 5 in the West? They would at least make the playoffs I would assume.

A healthy Bynum would make them serious contenders. But like many have said, that's the problem. His knees are like Yao's feet.

Come on!!! How could you guys treat Dirk this way, with this uncertainty of the future? If the Mavs org still has some little decency, they would make him available in the market and tell, "We want to trade Dirk because we want him to win another one and as of now, here's not the best place for that." Or the other way around, if Dirk finally realizes he deserves more, he himself should demand a trade.

But if both parties think that there's still hope to achieve that goal, they should just join Lottery teams such as the Bobcats and Lakers and tank for the 2014 draft. Obviously, they will not make it to the playoffs next season. So if they tank next season and test their luck for the said draft, they would have a extremely high chance to get the 1st pick as the Bobcats, the expected worst team record-wise next season, have surprisingly been unlucky during the recent draft lottery. As for the Lakers, we all know that Kobe - with his very compe ive nature - will never accept that tanking concept and will try to win all games as possible once he returns from his injury.

But with all these possible scenarios, I personally prefer and hope that Dirk plays for another team.

Mavs have to gamble on Bynum at this point, they have nothing to lose. Nobody expects em to be worth a this season anyway.
There is no upside, absolutely none. It's a stupid ploy by a man who had it all and was permitted to piss it all away without an ounce of responsibility. It's the money that insulates him. It's what insulated that Hernandez character in New England till he murdered a 3rd person. Now he's worth more on the docket than he was was on the gridiron. When Cuban tilts the scale Media will drag his chubby ass to the tree of woe and crucify him.

    Bynum
    Dirk
    Marion
    Harris
    Calderon

    Brand
    Wright
    Carter
    Larkin

That would be a nice team. Definitely contenders in the west, as long as Bynum and Dirk are both healthy and playing hard.

I can't imagine them starting Harris at the 2. That back court would get burned by every team in the league but of course, you would have Bynum protecting the rim at least. I'd imagine Harris would come off the bench.

It is not true when one calls Bynum a low risk & high reward. He may not command the amount of money he is worth, when healthy, but he also will definitely not be healthy for a full season 'nor will he be the same man who embarrassed the likes of Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan during the high points of his career. He is a man of pride and selfishness, he is as much of a cancer as Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. It may be reasonable to think that in his wounded state he is no threat to the integrity of a team, but it was his knees which collapsed on themselves - not his head. He will be the same man, but in a different - more brittle s .

Carter would start, tbh..he's been their 2nd best defensive player behind Marion the past 2 years, and has been one of the best role players in the league since joining the Mavs..

Vince was the 4th or 5th best 6th man last year, so it's ideal that Dallas keeps him in that role, but he could start if they don't sign a legit 2..

They really should try a 2-year deal for Bynum, tbh..if he miraculously stays healthy, they have a shot in an open conference..

TC was also known as "injury prone" before coming to Dallas but he was hardy as his throughout the 10-11 season. He missed some games but still played 74 games which was good enough imho. Bynum will be playing at least 60 games next season knowing that he has been resting for well over a year now. I'd like it if we could sign him on a short deal, like a 2yr deal with team option for the 2nd year.
