Not talking about sport vs non sport.
So you're saying that choreographed wrestling is a sport?

So you're saying that choreographed wrestling is a sport?
Absolutely!!! Actually it's ranked number 9 in the USA as the most favorite "sport".

    Are...NASCAR, Golf...sports? Horseracing?

The rasslin' takes athletes to pull it off.

Pro wrestling doesn't even call itself a sport.

    Because it isn't a sport.

No almanac list will change that.

I guess I respectfully disagree. Storylines, and choreographed routines lend itself to comparisons to other physical activities that are graded by judges. Such as, diving, gymnastics etc. Because, they are graded more so on execution of physical movement, as opposed to actual compe ion. Although with these activities there are no scripted storylines. The closest wrestling comes to a sport, would be fixed boxing matches. And everyone knows how people feel about fixed boxing matches.

Is bodybuilding a sport? Is dance a sport? What if I were a pro sparring partner and my job was to never hurt the star? I'm not a pro athlete?

I could be into judo and never do anything compe ive.

Try being a non athlete and a pro rassler.

It doesn't matter if the outcome is predetermined or not, it takes athletes to be involved. It is a sport because of the athleticism involved.

Try being a pro rassler without training for it.

Pro wrestling is not a sport and anyone trying to say it is has to be a closet case.

Answering the OP, it's a nostalgic thing for a lot of males. Either they grew up watching it with the family, or they had a best friend who enjoyed watching it together. It is simply another form of entertainment, but it's appeal has been around since man has existed. Humans enjoy violence, scripted or not.

You're removing the compe ive nature, and that is an essential aspect of sport.

I built an extension on to my deck by the pool this weekend. It was hot, hard work and crawling around under the existing deck while carrying lumber and tools took a fair amount of athleticism. My neighbor, a former college football player helped. I played HS ball and still keep in shape. Therefore, deck building is a sport.

There should be a list of professional deck builders and their stats.

There are athletes in pro wrestling. You don't do the things they do without a gift of athleticism. That does not make pro wrestling a sport.

So if you golf alone it's not a sport?

Here's where you say....you're competing against yourself. So are the rasslers if they wanna stay in the business.

No, golfing by yourself is practice. Wrestling with yourself is masturbation.

How many dummies can ya pack in one place?

Big strong guys tossing each other round, bouncing off ropes, jumping from rings. Only great athletes can make this work. Here yes it's a sport. If a guy can sit on his ass and drive a car, an old man can knock a little ball around......if those are sports........

I think that just about hits the nail on the head. I haven't followed wrestling in years, but seeing Jimmy Hart screaming into his megaphone just takes me back to a better time.

Whether they can or can't doesn't matter one iota.

Pro wrestling is not a sport. No amount of YouTubes or almanac lists will change that.
