Durand Scott has a consistent tear drop from the free throw line in his game.....he has the best chance of making team in summer leage IMO
Durand Scott says he was not very good at first, and there were some rough times growing up. He lost his father at 15.
"It was very hard at nights to hear him crying in the room," Faithlyn Scott says.
But with the guidance of high school and college coaches and support from family and the community, Scott excelled and has made it this far.
"It's just another opportunity to go out there and do the thing you love," he says.
Now Durand Scott aims for a permanent spot in the NBA, accomplishing a dream for him and one for his late father.
"His last words were, 'I hope he makes it to the NBA,'" Faithlyn Scott says.

He also didn't fit in the Heat's system.
I was wondering about this, his position is one of the Heat's biggest weaknesses and yet he couldn't find consistent playing time. On top of that, el Heat had already shown a willingness to insert and trust newer players into their system such as Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. This is to say that Pittman (who is young and should have lots of upside) was so bad he couldn't find time with Miami. What exactly was Miami looking for in a big man that Pittman couldn't be given a chance?

What's even more surprising to me is that with his upside, wouldn't that make him more tempting like a franchise like the Heat to invest in him?

I feel like I am missing something from this picture.

Worse finisher and slower than Joel Anthony. I feel like he makes some bad decisions when he switches/helps. He can get post position pretty well, but he just isn't a good enough finisher atm to do much with it. Decent enough D one on one if he didn't foul so much. He just doesn't really strike me as athletic or energetic. Just big.

He might have got play time if he was at his current level back in 2010 when the bigs were the corpse of Big z, Dampier and Joel Anthony. With the 2013 Heat they just needed some D out of their center, mobility and the ability to make dump offs from Lebron/Wade. Pittman couldn't give you the last 2.

Thanks for the insightful response jimbo, it sounds like we're better off with Baynes.

On top of that, it doesn't seem wise to me to have two bigs on the team that are still in early stages of learning the system. I think he'll have to succeed in the SL and then in their system at the D-league before moving forward with him.

No, but he won't miss them all when they count either. I guarantee he can play bad defense and not rebound like Bonner though. I think the handling and passing abilities are about the same. My dog can jump much higher and the Spurs would be in a lot of highlight clips. I mean, he is a dog.
