Proposal, S&T Mills for Nate Robinson
Ok, CHI see Nate's role as 3ed PG (behind Rose & Teague/Hinrich) - but he wants a) more money and b) a bigger role. So, would CHI consider a S&T for a 3ed PG?

    SAS out Mills
CHI out Nate (S&T - vet min +20% salary, 2 years guaranteed)

It's not a lot of value for CHI, but I understand that Nate doesn't really want to be back (and they kind of owe him a solid after last year)... Mills is a good 3ed PG, and has no problems with a small minutes/bench role. Nate, meanwhile, gets 2 guaranteed years, a 20% raise, and a serious shot at the Spurs backup PG role - he has to beat out Cory Joseph, and he has the O to do it...
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's that Chicago doesn't want Nate on the team, they've just got the luxury tax to worry about.

It's both, according to a post Sham made in the middle of last season.

But anyway, I would not like that trade at all. No need to switch out a team player for a borderline team cancer when there were already numerous guards on the roster.

This huge log jam and all these continued rumors about the guard position have me fairly convinced that something else is coming. Probably nothing big but somebody is going to be moved for something.

There's definitely a logjam in the backcourt that needs to be cleared.

Parker - Obviously not getting traded.
Manu - Obviously not getting traded.

Belinelli - Wouldn't be able to be traded until December 15th.
Neal or Morrow - Wouldn't be able to be traded until December 15th.

Joseph - Expendable, but limited trade value. Realistic trade options limited to a salary dump move, or included as part of a larger package.
    Decolo - See Joseph.
    Mills - See Decolo.

That leaves.........Danny Green. Trade value at an all time high, makes a large enough salary where he could be paired with someone out of the backup PG trio and traded for a player making a pretty hefty salary.

    Just saying....

Who do you suggest Green get traded for? Honestly, outside of Ginobili, none of the other guards on the roster can do half of what Green did (as far as things that matter to the starting lineup). Whatever the Spurs get back would have to offset the huge drop off that Green's departure would entail.

In my opinion, just get rid of De Colo and Mills and be done with it. Commit to Joseph as the backup point-guard and have Manu, Beli and Gary hold down the two and three.

Weren't the Spurs rumored to be rejecting offers for Joseph at the trade deadline last season?

Yes, but only a salary dump to Toronto.

Just threw up in my mouth. God no. He's the definition of Anti-Spur. He's a slightly better version of Neal.

SA will go small. At this point it's pretty clear to me. If they really re-sign Neal, the 2nd unit goes with Neal/Beli/Manu . Beli could help with his playmaking skills if Manu and Neal struggle too much.

I don't have a problem with it, as long as Kawhi is healthy. Because if he gets hurt, SA is ed.

Green played like at the 3 last season. Boris could be used as a 3 at times, but not as a full starter. Manu struggles to log more than 20 minutes/game these days.

If SAC can get a players like Moute with 2 2 rounders, why can't the Spurs get a decent backup SF for Leonard ? Especially considering his knee problems.

I'm not suggesting the Spurs trade Green for anyone. I'd be shocked if they did. I'm just pointing out some relevant facts to keep in mind if the Spurs are going to try to thin out the backcourt via the trade route. All this assuming of course that the Spurs do indeed re-sign Neal in a non-S&T move. Saw that Morrow went off the board after my previous post.

Just to stir the pot though, , a Green/Decolo swap for AK would allow the Spurs to offer AK a deal starting at $8mil.......
(no, I'm not saying this is going to happen)

Either a trade is in the works or Pop is planning to store Ginobili in bubble-wrap until after the all-star break.

    I say bubble-wrap.

That's kind of the point - Pop likes back up PG's like that - remorseless gunners. Robinson's a better passer and ball-handler than Neal...he'd be a serious upgrade, and would provide compe ion for Joseph at the backup PG.

Clearly Mills De Colo Bonner have been expendable all along. Belli signing makes either Neal or Green expendable also. The question then becomes who are the takers and clearly we'd rather keep Green than Neal. However, AK 47 + Belli addition would make any combo of subtraction of mentioned players tolerable.

I wouldn't trade Green for Kirilenko straight up. I certainly wouldn't add De Colo for the priviilege of paying AK that much money.

I'd've been more interested a couple of seasons ago. But Turner is on an expensive expiring contract, which is totally not what you want to see in a backup whom you hope to develop. I'd much rather throw what I could at Derrick Williams to play the 3/4 than I would to get Turner to play the 2/3.

That line up reaks in the playoff basketball.

Spurs won't be doing anything but if they resign Neal I wouldn't put it past them to have him running PG. Committee ball at the PG/SF position next season.
