Isiah Thomas retired after an Achilles injury. There's precedent that these things are near career-ending.
People, look at Billips' career after his Achilles injury. THERE IS NO CAREER. It's just laughable to me how the Lakers FO and Laker fans think Bryant is going to come back and be any kind of player. He's nothing but a fadeaway jump shot machine anyway. Yes, he's probably eating every PED he can get his hands on, but still...it's only going to get uglier. Yet they let him in the romance room with Dwight. It's truly astonishing.

Flabby and sick.
He does. Funny how Paul looks overweight in the picture as well.
And Nique came back and averaged 29.9 ppg in 71 games his next season (that was 20 yrs ago), what's your point? Beckham came back 6 months after his achilles rupture, other athletes have done this stuff too...
It's ridiculous to point at an example from 20 yrs ago and say "well, some athlete back then (before people even used the Internet) had the same injury and it ended his career" and say that it will be the same 2 decades later. Technology has advanced big time and with the PEDs and baby fetuses he's injecting he will be playing like himself in the season opener.
Great point. But I fear both takes are correct. NO ONE knows how good he will be, not even Kobe.
