lol
I'm very happy with it...dude is a champion and tough as nails...run and gun style of play and tbh no PG can really stop Farmar...he hesitated a lot back in the day but he hit huge shots for us and was all around fearless...His defense isn't the best but what PG outside of Rondo plays great defense...none of them...I say JF will more than hold his own against all western PG's and in fact he's a starter in this league...all we need to now is sign Nick Young to back-up Kobe, release Metta and pick-up Kenyon...if we don't release Metta we should still pick-up Kenyon and Odom ..that's a good set of defenders...LO gets he shape he can stretch the floor
"I've been a Laker since I was born," Farmar said. "I grew up a Laker fan, so regardless of where I am or who I'm playing for, or what I'm doing in life, I'm always going to stay connected to what's going on here [in Los Angeles]."
i like his at ude thought tbh..
don't forget last year we had no PG that could dish and finish like this:
Good, I hope the Lakers win 40 games, then they can have a mediocre lottery pick to go along with the fat contract they'll be giving to Rudy Gay![]()
there's no PG in the West besides Westbrook that can finish at the rim like Farmar.....Farmar also has a higher IQ than pretty much everyone cept maybe Parker...(I don't say that because he's half Jewish and is a distant cousin of mine..wink wink) he now becomes arguably tied for 5th best PG out West...behind Westbrook, Parker, CP3, Curry, ..at worst he's tied with Lawson and Conley Jr...for that 5th Spot....Lin and Dragic, and whomever else is behind Jordan
I am warming up to JF's return. Run-n-gun suits his style of play. Not saying the Lakers will score in SSOL, but JF could only help the Lakers improve on their 2013 extinct fast break and score more easy buckets. Too often Kobe was the only person who could get his own shot consistently. JF can - although I used to question his shot selection when we were running the tri. MDA will prolly give him a neon green light with the 2nd unit. When he was last in the NBA playing for the Nets, his numbers were decent backing up D-Will in 2011-2012 season:
10.4 ppg on 46.7%
44% from downtown
90.5% from charity stripe
3.3 apg v. 1.7 TO/game
21.3 mpg
This season is essentially an audition for him. Soak up everything he can from Nash and if he plays well enough, earn a more lucrative contract next year when the Lakers will have a ton of cap space. He's only 26 and still has some upside. I'm interested to see how this shakes out. He's already willing to forgo millions to come back home and play for the minimum. This shows me he's serious:
LINKThe sides agreed to a one-year, veteran minimum deal worth approximately $1 million. L.A. must first negotiate a buyout with Farmar's club in Turkey, Anadolu Efes, which is believed to be in the $500,000 range. The buyout does not count against the salary cap, an important detail to the luxury tax-laden Lakers.
The deal required a significant financial sacrifice by Farmar to be completed. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal last summer to play in the Turkish Basketball League.
Like I said, I'll be rooting for him.
He will learn from Nash but at the same time he's going to run Nash out the gym tbh....Kobe really loves Farmar and always has....
His numbers as a back-up to D-Will look dam good...like I said he can easily start on this team and he's always had great chemistry with Pau and Odom
Whats going to happen to steve blake then tbh?
I'm happy with how we're rebounding..we just need to sign Nick Young..I want that guy real bad...we need shooters and he's one of the very best..I was happy the Clippers let him go...
Nick Young and a rejuvenated Odom will give us the athletes we need to compete next year...I'm not convinced that we can't win it...when we went back to back Bynum was largely hurt...and didn't contribute much...if we get LO back with Hill there we're going to make some ing noise...
I believe!
I actually think this Farmar dude will be decent for the Lakers. MDA's offense fits his game and he's an athletic PG that can shoot and is only 26 years old, definitely a good move for the Lakers IMO.
Steve Blake will back-up Farmar and Nash will get hurt and then he'll back-up Farmar but Farmar will ultimately back up Nash..that kid gave up too much money to return..that's serious love....
Nash getting injured already aih? I really hope nash doesnt want to go out like useless old , and at least produces something.
He's insurance for Nash. Gotta keep him. He actually played decent in MDA's system last year.
Who is going to get more minutes if Nash is healthy? Im assuming Steve, since MDA has a hard on for him.
Nash was injury prone...when he was younger he was just faster now that he's slower that physical contact finds him more often...but yeah I expect him to miss about 20 games next yr....that's ok though Farmar and Blake are more than Capable...and tbh Blake was supurb for us..He was hitting key shots in crucial big games for us and not even blinking...I think out back court will be fine...it won't be the reason we dont win the le next yr...the key issues for me is LO getting back in shape, Kobe being at least 80% which evens things out, and Pau finding 1 more season where he brings it..If Pau can find a way to play like he did during the Olympics the Lakers will be le contenders granted Kobe fully recovers..Don't forget we get Hill back and Hill is actually a better low post player than Dwight and the kid rolls to the basket in the PNR like Karl Malone used to...
It will depend on the game situation...but Farmar will win Dantoni over and if he's smart he will play Nash less so Nash is fresh for the play-offs...don't discount the motivation factor here....after last season and everyone writing us off and getting swept and Dwight leaving I fully expect Nash, Pau, and Kobe to play like they've never played before....very intelligent and consistent it will be nice watching next year...we had or down yr now watch us rebound...
We need nick youngs ass in here to back up kobe as well tbh.
you just lost your best rebounder
