Mavs screwed the pooch and Dirk so bad. They should be ridiculed for what they have done and there is 0 excuse for it. Blowing up a le team to chase money and a pipe dream is stupid and you only get the benefit of the doubt if you pull something great off which they did not.

It's not like we would be guaranteed any trophies even IF we had assembled the real Triple D as was initially projected. Miami are kicking asses all over the league now and we were lucky enough to steal one just before the door was completely closed, and I'm content with what we have already got. Having two overrated "superstars" and an exorbitant payroll but ending up with nothing wouldn't feel much better than keeping the money and building a new team from ground up imho. Winning the championship is our only aim and will always be, and it doesn't make much difference to us whether we get asskicked in the first round or in the NBA finals.

Donnie "Tommy Boy" Nelson needs to go. Getting Tyson Chandler was pure luck. They had no idea he would mesh and be as good as he was. Financial considerations and not on-court production was their motivation for making that trade.

It's pretty simple really: you build through the draft or you stockpile assets in the form of picks/young players with upside/expiring deals when a superstar becomes available, like Boston and Houston did to land KG/Ray Ray and Harden.

But as Rogue said they got one before LeBron figured it out. Ellis and Bynum assures a playoff spot if they and Dirk are healthy. If you ain't a legit contender you should be rebuilding instead of being first round fodder tbh.
