Bonner is more expensive and Blair isn't better than Turiaf.
I think Blair is as good as Turiaf, if not better. Turiaf has been declining since his Laker days. That said, he is doing well on his bid to play for every team in the NBA.

The scenarios would be much easier to figure out if we knew about what starting salary AK is looking for.

I would imagine that AK and the Spurs have agreed on a contract in principle if everything else shakes out the right way. The Spurs wouldn't go through all these gyrations only to have AK back out at the last minute.

Blair is much better than Turiaf, tbh, but they play different roles..Minnesota needs a shot blocker, obviously, since their bigs are Pekovic and Love, while they just lost Steimmsma and seemingly on the verge of losing Kirilenko..

It's not, which is why I don't think the trade will happen. The Spurs will probably have to pay a pick or Jean-Charles for a team to take Bonner. But the good news is that De Colo may be enough for the Wolves to trade Kirilenko without a pick.
How do you feel about Utah as a parter? I mean, they're clearly tanking for Wiggins and they had no problems to take Jefferson + Biendrins (20m in total) for 2 future 1st round picks. They still have cap space to take Bonner and SA is obviously pretty close to Lindsay.

Let's say Minny gets Nando for AK in a S&T and SA sends Bonner to Utah for a future 1st. How much could SA offer to AK ? I think 8m is the MIN he would accept.

They'd be able to give him a contract starting at $8.2 Million.

League will veto this trade as it will recognize that any team trading for Bonner is clearly tanking.

Thanks. Using the 150% + 100k rule, here is the most the Spurs could offer AK in the first year of a contract by salary-dumping the following player combos.
    Bonner only: $6,017,500
    Bonner and Mills: $7,718,425
    Bonner and Joseph: $7,698,880
    Bonner and De Colo: $8,212,000

Bonner plus any two of those three can bring back $9.3M or more. This salary dump would be a three-team trade:
MIN sends out AK, receives a trade exception and maybe cash or lowpick.
SA sends out Bonner and a guard or two, receives AK
Cap space team receives Bonner, guard(s), probably a pick and cash from SA, sends out a top-59 protected second-rounder (basically nothing)

The trade for RJ passed with flying colors and RJ is more useless than Bonner and is getting paid nearly 3x times the salary.

They traded Ridnour for Martin. The salaries JUST BARELY match. Ridnour makes $4.32 Million this season. 150 percent of that plus $100k gives them $6.58 Million in salary they can take back. The first year of a $28M/4 deal with 4.5-percent raises is $6.56 Million. It works, just by the skin of its teeth.
Thanks. I thought I saw a tweet that Ridnour had already been sent to Milwaukee in a Brewer S&T deal. Woj not mentioning anything about Ridnour in his tweet about Min & OKC also led me to believe that this was a cap space trade.

Well at least we know there's a way to do it.

I don't get my hopes high though.

Their tank leaders are and Biendrins. Bonner is nothing compared to these guys.

Yeah, I don't know if anything's official or not. The trade would work, though they may decide against making it both trades into one big deal.

Why would anyone think the Jazz are tanking just because they let Jefferson and Millsap walk and replaced them with and Biendrins?

It should be pretty easy to have Utah do this S&T with us. I'll lay it out in 5 easy steps.

    1) Have Duncan start openly talking about his frustration with losing the Finals and how hes probably 90% sure he wants to retire right now.

San Antonio probably won't be an elite team this year for certain

    2) Start floating rumors that Parker and Leonard both tore their ACL's last night at a rave and are out for 2013-14.

The league will assume that we'll struggle and may miss the playoffs.

    3) Have Diaw and Blair fake their death's in a tragic compe ive eating accident.

The Spurs are definitely missing the playoffs and are lottery bound.

    4) Call Utah and confide in them that Green and Splitter were both involved in this Snowden thing and have fled the country, requesting political asylum in Djibouti.

The Spurs are DEFINITELY lottery bound and will be "compe ive" for the top pick.

    5) Have Pop and RC call Utah again in a faked drunken stupor and offer to trade them our precious first rounder if only they'd help us sign AK47.

    Mission Accomplished.

Question: can the Spurs offer him a 1 year remaining cap space contract for this year with the under the table agreement to offer him a much better long term one next year, or is that illegal under the new CBA?
Did you really just ask if an under the table agreement was OK? Joe Smith? Is that you?
