that was a pretty reasonable take, stop being a dumbass

It was taking light the fact that this guy wanted people to be* quantifiable as in empirical evidence through the use of stats. That has it's glaring weaknesses as the above argument of Lebron vs The Mad Dawg showcases. That particular argument, although sustainable through stats, wouldn't be very...well, as you said..Not very smart. That's the point. Stats don't tell the whole story. Stats will never show you how great Tim Duncan is and how much impact he has on both ends of the court, because he made his teammates better to the point that he didn't need stats to win.
My argument is Kobe went through better teams, and he won with a less talented team back to back. IMO, that's more impressive, which was the question, Not who's stats were more impressive. If you just want to argue who had better stats, then of course Lebron did. That wasn't the argument though. Forgive my lack of insults and degrading arguments that keep me from the top tier of posters that dwell this realm. I'm a Newbie. I'll try to catch up. #PeaceLoveAndChicken
Kobe also put his team on his back, but the answer is Lebron. I think he had the better team and he was the better player all-around. Kobe has some amazing scoring games in those runs. But when you factor all aspects I would say the answer is clearly Lebron. Both had some shaky moments and great moments in the clutch as well. I would say onpaper Lebron had teh better cast but because they were very inconsistent, especially this year Lebron had and did more to bring the back2back les home. Lakers though never had shooting like the heat.
Lebron. And not as close as it would appear. Havent read the posts above and I dont give a about stats.
Its close for me. Kobe was pretty good in those WCF series but completely bombed out against the Celtics in Game 7 which is a huge hit in his legacy. I mean, that was the game that could shut up the haters and he was horrendous. But to be fair, both teams were awful on the field so its not like he was the only one who had a miserable shooting game. He was however pretty good in 2009.
Lebron in 2012 was phenomenal, but his performance in the Finals this year IMO wasn't something to write home about, he was amazing in game 7 but games 1-6 were actually disappointing.
I don't disagree that Kobe put the team on his back as well. But Lebron did it in a way that Kobe never has, and even in ways Jordan never did. He was the team's best scorer, rebounder, defender, offense runner, and clutch player.
I don't know if you can say Lebron has much better of a cast than Kobe. Maybe more shooters, but I'm sure Lebron would gladly give a shooter or two away (as well as Chris Bosh) to have a pure post scorer and defender like Bynum.
Trade Miller and Bosh for Bynum, and Miami beats Indy and San Antonio both in 5. Bad matchups were the single biggest reason those series lasted as long as they did.
Kind of like what Lebron does for his teams.
Average winning % of Laker opponents during their back to back championships - 64%
Average winning % of Heat opponents during their back to back championships - 61%
Not a huge difference by any means. The Heat's opponent win % however was drastically decreased simply due to facing Milwaukee this year.
Proof?
I saw Kobe win championships with one of the leagues best defenders (Artest), one of the leagues most clutch spot up shooters (Fisher), one of the leagues most versatile players (Odom), one of the most skilled post scorers in the league (Gasol), and then arguably the best center in the league (Bynum), and a few other solid role players who played defense and hit open jumpers.
I saw Lebron win with one of the leagues best 2 guards (Wade), an all-star power forward (Bosh), a big time jumpshooter for one of them (Allen), and a slew of solid role players who played defense and hit open jumpers. Not nearly as balanced of a team, and not quite as talented of a supporting cast.
I agree that Miami is a better team. Not because of the supporting cast, but because Lebron is so much better than Kobe was.
Disagree to some extent. Bynum clogs the lane and Lebron was at his best with the floor spaced. But I agree that Lebron carried his team in different ways so that is why I give him the edge. Scoring wise it's Kobe. Not just for his totals but he never failed to be aggressive even in his ty Game 7. For some reason Lebron sometimes almost had to be forced to take over. But again the variety of his all around game gives him the edge in my book. But maybe it is closer like strength said. My initial gut is Lebron.
Cool story bro. Real talk. Good points. Your opinion holds Miami better, and Lebron being a major part of that. You also don't think the teams were that much more difficult than what Kobe went through. I find this year just not as impressive as what the lakers went through, which is what the argument is. Which one is more impressive. Both were good runs. Both have arguments on their side. I don't think the majority of people would go with Kobe's Lakers instead of this years heat. As far as defenders, Lebron and wade are pretty good at it. That's why they're one of the best fast break teams in the NBA if not the best. As far as clutch.. Fisher doesn't come close to Allen.. come on now. Birdman may not be an all star, but it didn't keep him from posting one of the best field goal percentages of all time. Like I said..there are arguments on both sides for each player. Actual arguments that hold water, but most people here are fine just filling themselves with their own opinion and not hearing out anothers. It's always an accomplishment to see a team go back to back. What the Heat did was impressive. I just find Kobes more impressive. It's not hard to imagine either. Respect to those who think otherwise.
Genius photoshop... only Love is coloured.

Yea, I thought that was pretty funny..Props to the Creator for seeing so clearly.
Yes, Bynum does clog the lane up, and gives Lebron a little less space. But with Bynum being able to score so efficiently, while helping out immensely on defense, Lebron won't have to do nearly as much as he did. He won't have to be down in the post time after time having to block big men like Splitter and Duncan. With Bynum there, that type of constant defensive effort won't have to happen. Lebron's personal stats may not benefit from Bynum, but team success absolutely benefits from having a guy like Bynum.
