Granted his shot was way off the whole playoffs. But he was still a pretty good playmaker until Miami, where they were picking him off left and right.
All the teams Spurs faced in the playoffs last year looked like his worst nightmare. Overall, Ginobili has been bad these past two seasons with Spurs. A lot of injuries during the regular season and the inability to really raise his level for the playoffs.

If only TP wouldn't have shat the bed so hard like he always does when we lose a playoffs series poor Manu wouldn't have had to make such a big sacrifice![]()

It's not like shooting is a big part of the game...
For an average player, Manu global playoffs were good but for a part of the "big 3" paid $14.1M, they were just bad.
Given his age, his likely decline and his recent plays, he got a more than fair contract.
But, I'm happy he is back.
I really was a big Manu fan leading up to last year. He was on that George Gervin, David Robinson level. Now, he has kind of slid to the Avery Johnson, Sean Elliott level. Another bad year, and who knows what level he might fall to.
He was actually pretty good in last year playoffs (2011-2012), by any measure he did raise his level after a poor first series against Utah. He was just inconsistent.
Yes, I know shooting is important for a shooting guard. That said, even when his shot is off, he can be an effective playmaker. I'd compare him to Kidd, who also had issues with his shot throughout his career, but was an excellent/elite playmaker. Manu isn't Kidd, but he is good enough to impact a game with his passing. Unfortunately, for him, when you play Miami, your passes have to be dead on and just dribbling into traffic and jumping in the air and then trying to make a pass is a recipe for turnovers. And Ginoboli had way, way too many.
Come on now. The regular season was a resounding success and the playoffs have been great so far, but the offseason really was disappointing. Ayers is a 13th man and Beli hasn't been good.
But the contract given Manu sure looks really good now, doesn't it?
can't wait for bonner's contract thread this summer
Bonner needs to be signed so he can be used in a trade for Love IMHO.
