Just said this on @TheTicketMiami: from what I am hearing from multiple sources, the Heat are likely to amnesty Mike Miller today.

He's probably ready to retire now.
He looks like he should have retired years ago with his hunchback but he was certainly productive in spurts during the last two Finals.

I don't know that he has anything left in the tank though.

Good, if nothing else, it weakens the Heat to a degree. Not that they relied on him during the RS but I'd argue that his scoring and vet savvy kept them compe ive in the Finals at times. Anything to level the playing field is a positive thing.

    Meh.

He's got two rings, he'll get every penny left on his contract, and he may not have been able to play another minute in the NBA anyway. That, and this move can save Miami's owner upwards of 20M in luxury tax.

Not surprising. Miami's going to be well over the tax this year and be hit as a lux tax repeater next year. The $12 mil left on Miller's contract was going to end up costing Miami upwards of $30 mil in luxury tax payments.

Miller is done imo. Unless to sticks around just to collect a paycheck with some crappy team I think he retires. He can still stroke it from 3 obviously but his D is terrible at this point.

Would anyone welcome this? I know we have a million guards but what if it was a true backup PG?
Short but can score and play both positions. I doubt he would go to Miami Chalmers, and Cole are good enough to get it done and Wade and Allen would eat up almost all of the 2 guard minutes. A 1 year deal would be good and give us some additional scoring bunch with our second unit.

If Miller were to agree to sign here, his D would improve instantly.

I call it the Belinelli effect.

"Mo Williams is considering taking less to join a contender such as the Spurs or Heat." I can't imagine him choosing the Spurs over Miami, especially since the money will be the same (I think).
Unless the Heat guaranteed him that he'd take Cole's spot in the rotation (probably unlikely, considering how much they like Cole), I don't see why he'd sign with them.

I could easily see the Jazz being interested in either De Colo or Mills (Spurs connection with Lindsay, need for a third PG, expiring contract to preserve their cap space for '14) in a sign and trade, which would allow the Spurs to offer him more.

He'd be an outstanding fit. Ideal Parker insurance, plus more Ginobili insurance.

In other PG news, Price has somehow managed to hang on another season in the league . . .

Chris Haynes: Former #Blazers G Ronnie Price has agreed to a deal with the Orlando Magic, a source informed @CSNNW. Twitter ChrisBHaynes
