most great players has an extra gear in the postseason. lebron james is the exact opposite.

His PER, FG%, TS% PPG etc goes down.

whats worse is his performance becomes worse in the finals (shooting 43%)

all this despite having multiple players that removes pressure from him (shooters like allen, battier and mike miller) and all star players like wade and bosh.

    it's baffling tbh

Because he ain't the goods. He ain't MJ incarnate. , you had him beat, flat out beat and fled the side door, hair on fire.

But, he's it. And if you don't like it? Tough ties. Lump it...go around the corner there, right there, & dump it.

Kobe's stats in the finals and postseason shows who really underperformed. Shooting 30% TWICE in the finals.

It really isn't that hard to understand, and I have said it multiple times in the past - in the playoffs, teams matter.

In his Cleveland days, Lebron has played on horrible teams, and the opposition has a simple game plan, and that is to crowd Lebron and make the other guys beat you (knowing that they can't). There are very few legit #1s who have better stats in the playoffs than the regular season. On the other hand, great secondary players, so called second bananas, often benefits from this effect. As the opposition crowds the main guy, the 2nd banana goes off.

McHale was the beneficiary in a few playoffs, we saw that with Danny Green in the finals, we saw that with Horry countless times, and we saw that with Kobe in 2000 to 2002 with Shaq in the middle, we saw that with Parker in 07 and Ginobili in 05.

Like I said all along, Lebron does have GOAT potential, but he is unlikely to achieve it. His resumes have too many black marks (collapse in 11, pedestrian playoff run this year until Game 6 and 7 of the finals, having to team up with two max level player to finally get a ring), but even at it stands right now, there is no doubt Lebron is a top 10 player in the history of the league.

It is a mental quality few players have which causes them to elevate their game when it matters. Lebron, as great of a player he is, simply lacks this. It is something you are born with, an instinct to win.

Lebron was phenomenal in Games 6 and 7, when it really counts.

But, his finals series on the whole was not nearly as dominant as it is being credit for. He WAS bailed out.

If Allen didn't hit that 3, we'd all be discussing how Lebron had choked epically twice in the last 3 years.

No, we'd be cutting Bosh down from a Florida palm tree.

Media would not have laid a hand on James. "We" would have, but, Media would've went after Bosh and beat him to a pulp. , they won and still launched a warning shot over his nappy head.

    Kobe
    PER - 23.4/22.4
    FG% - 45.4%/44.8%
    TS% - 55.5%/54.1%
    PPG - 25.5/25.6

bron's stats go down in playoffs because he's too brilliant during the regular season. most superstars don't go out in full strength in the regular season and will tank some games preceding the playoffs, while the Lebron you see is always the best he can be. Defense turns tighter and tougher once the playoffs begin so it's nothing abnormal to see players' stats go down a bit imho
