"Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach," the statement said. "After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone's best interest for him to go home a day early."

It was Manziel's first appearance as college coach/counselor at the passing academy after he had been a camper twice during his high school years. "I enjoyed meeting Johnny," said Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning "I can remember a 20-year-old Eli [Manning] missing a meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year."

Johnny hate A&M so badly. I'm just waiting for him to flash a "Hook 'em Horns" the next time he scores a touchdown.
it would be classic if he did that in a bowl game against texas.

i never knew any student to get in trouble at a&m for skipping a summer camp..or getting drunk off campus...or for even being a d-bag

If Manziel went to UT Aggyfan would call him a classless piece of .

Conversely, if he went to UT Longhornfan would completely defend him and look the other way on everything. ESPN wouldn't be trying to shove negative JF stories down our throats, thats for sure.

If he does not play well, the backlash will be unbelievable.

This is so stupid.....not like Johnny went to jail over this.

I gotta admit i'm not really a fan of A&M, but ESPN is seriously re ed if they think I'm buying any of their anti-a&m and anti-manziel bull . Someone really just said "johnny manziel might not be the problem, kevin sumlin may be the problem".

Didn't know there was a problem with an 11 win team, or Heisman QBs, or coming into A&M your first year and having more success than anyone has seen there in decades.

But yeah, no, ESPN is a completely credible source of news who would have no conflict of interest in their reporting of subjects regarding Texas A&M. I'm sure they have absolutely zero incentive to try to represent rivals of UT in negative light.

Here's the thing about ole' Johnny. He's 20. He hasn't been arrested for any of these recent issues. Wgaf if he's going out and partying, cavorting with celebrities and enjoying his fame.

If he was anything other than a heisman trophy winner, none of this would be noteworthy. I, for one, am glad to see a guy acting his age, not pushing a moral agenda, and basically just being a normal young dude in college.

No reason it should be addressed (by the team or the school) **unless** it bleeds over into the season and greatly affects his play.

I'm ing tired of the ultra-conservative, holier than thou, collective outlook that CFB, and, to a lesser extent, the NFL, have over their sport and their players.

Bottom line. If he doesn't get arrested and fulfills his duties to the team and the school, I don't give a , and nobody else should either.

As long as Johnny and his teammates and coaches are on the same page than it will never be an issue. This is who he is, he was going to nba games, sitting courtside, partying with his buds, etc before he won the heisman. Just nobody cared. People who are close to him know this is the guy he is. If he changed into some different type of person who did start pushing some sort of moral agenda, like symple mentioned, that would be worse for the locker room than him just being himself. He makes some stupid decisions but eventually the media is going to start finding this boring.

Tired of people acting like athletes should be boy scouts off the field. As long as he isn't breaking the law theres nothing wrong with having fun. The only thing I have a problem with is him not honoring his commitment to the Mannings at the camp...and that isn't reason enough to crucify him or 'raise red flags' about him tbh.
