I'm gonna set up the league this weekend. We'll draft on Aug. 25th (3rd week of preseason) at 2:30PM EST that way we'll basically all be safe from ers getting injured in camp or PS games. If this is a conflict (shouldn't be this far in advance) with anyone please let me know because I'm open to moving the time or date to accommodate.
Another thing I wanted to ask you guys is would you be down with using LeagueSafe for payments? I've used it before and it's worked out pretty good for those leagues. If you win you get paid faster, and you can just run a free league on whatever site you play on so as to not incur administration and set up fees? The site is http://www.leaguesafe.com if you want to check it out. If we do this, I'll set it up to where a majority vote is required to confirm payouts (rather than me having full control as commissioner). I believe they hit you with a 3% surcharge on your entry fee so your buy-in would be $51.50, the money would be held by them until the championship game, and after the game is over we all go confirm that the payouts are going to the proper players and are for the proper amount, and then you can withdraw your money shortly after that. If we go this route, I will disable the commissioner reimbursement option when I set up the LeagueSafe for our league.
If we reach 12 teams and everyone pays, our pot is at $600. With that amount, I feel like this is a pretty good breakdown for the winners:
1st Place: $450
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place: $50

Also in the event that we go this route, dues must be paid no later than draft day. If you have a special cir stance, let me know and I'll work something out for you. However, when using LeagueSafe the commissioner can't allocate funds for payout until every manager has paid their dues...and ain't nobody getting a free ride in this this league. You don't pay, you don't draft. Man law.
And to any skeptics, LeagueSafe is BBB approved and FDIC insured.
Actually, looks like LeagueSafe got rid of that...but I still feel like no money, no draft is a good policy for this.

Will set the league up later today. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer last weekend so I've essentially been stuck at a week-long family reunion since. His chances are very good so we are optimistic about his recovery and very thankful that we caught it at such an early stage, but I just wanted to let you guys know I haven't been sitting around looking at porn and plotting against Avante all week.
Going to do it on ESPN since that won the poll and most people expressed interest in that site.

Solid point. I'm down for your second suggestion so that all four playoff teams win some dough. Since we're doing LeagueSafe we can get some more opinions from the other players in our league and decide that on our own time.
I'm ready to pull the trigger on creating the league RIGHT NOW (srsly I've been busy and slacking but that's da troof), but I had one last question for you guys. Do you want D/ST to factor both points AND yards allowed, or just points? Those of you who are more familiar with Yahoo are probably used to points-only D/ST scoring. I don't care either way. Just trying to give the people what they want, like DeadlyDynasty, my only demands were PPR and 6 points for pass TD.
Also, because I procrastinated on setting up the league for a couple weeks, I will allow a two week grace period following our draft. So now you gotta be paid up before the Week 1 Sunday games kick off. If you're not in college and can't come up with $50 in a six week period you're probably a bag.
Another thing...we still have four unclaimed spots in the league. Since no one's really speaking up for them here, I think we should consider reaching out to friends, but only serious players. Basically if you have a friend who has played fantasy with you before and became That Guy Who Quits Setting His Roster After Week 5, consider him blackballed.
Once I get some feedback on what you guys want for defense scoring, I'll hit the create league button and PM the link and password to all of you, as well as our LeagueSafe page.

Here's how the defense scoring is currently set up. I'm all for throwing out the yards allowed scoring and inflating the points allowed scoring by a small margin. I cannot adjust the ranges for either, but I can adjust the points scored for the ranges.
0 points allowed: 5
1-6 points allowed: 4
7-13 points allowed: 3
14-17 points allowed: 1
28-34 points allowed: -1
35-45 points allowed: -3
46+ points allowed: -5
Less than 100 yards allowed: 5
100-199 yards allowed: 3
200-299 yards allowed: 2
300-349 yards allowed: 1
350-399 yards allowed: -1
400-449 yards allowed: -3
450-499 yards allowed: -5
500-549 yards allowed: -6
550+ yards allowed: -7
Any defensive TD: 6
Safety, Interception, Fumble rec, Blocked punt/FG/PAT: 2
Sack: 1
Safety should be worth 5 because it's so rare, imo. Sacks: 2, INT: 3. FF: 1 FR: 2
Offensive scoring for anyone that wants a look at that before I hit the button. Open to adjust, some people may not be familiar with the yardage bonuses. Been fairly common in leagues I've played in tbh.

We can do like a 5 point bonus for that I guess. I'll give folks some time to sound off on all the scoring I've posted tonight and then hit the button so you guys can start joining. ESPN locks the commish out of scoring changes after the league is finalized so we gotta iron this out now.
