Timmy has always carried the FO and Pop. I feel sorry for him.
Riley surrounds wade with Lebron, bosh, Allen
RC surrounds Duncan with one all star who went ghost and bunch of journey men
Sorry Timmy, you gave it your all , carrying a ing team at 37 years old
Timmy has always carried the FO and Pop. I feel sorry for him.
Pop will be the first to admit that TD carries him, and has in many a many interviews. So what else is new?
Who do you think you are, the Gods' gift to FOs? You are just another fan and no more, no less, but a completely disgruntled and irrational one iMHO.
We cut Stephen Jackson because of pops ego trip and bring in TMac who doesn't play one meaningful minute
just look at the roster surrounding Duncan and the one surrounding wade, how did it even go 7 games?
duncan gave everything GM 6/7 to close it, no one around him to help him
I agree. Pop used to say this a lot. The million dollar question is does he still think this way? Has Pop believed everything that is said about him too much? I think Pop has changed a bit.
All this and we still had the le in our hands, le that could have been most amazing and sublime in history, we lost only because curse reasons and some unnatural force wanted to create the most maltreatment action to people in history.
Well, everyone changes, that is the only thing you can depend upon in this life "changes".
The key is being able to roll with the uncomfortableness that change brings on without going the deep end and then making preposterous and ludicrous statements or actions.
He seems to be much the same Pop to me, IMHO. Besides, that is one of the tenets Pop lives by so I doubt he has changed that about himself.
He was, but that's who the second best player was for Duncan, a second year rookie
yeah we should have won, but the best RC and Pop have surrounded Duncan with over the years were 2 draft pics that turned out well, but now one is
Manu played well in game 7 until the final minute, and Parker had a ed up hamstring even though he made clutch shots in game 6
Please, stop with the exaggerations and over emotionalism, it makes me think you are a child.
There were far worse losses in the Spurs history! How about when the Washington Bullets won against the Spurs? That was ten times worse because Ice and company never won one or got close after that series!
I'm afraid you will never convince these idiots of something as rational as that.
It is what it is and apparently wasn't meant to be, the whole team was responsible for losing, not just two or three individuals.
This. I bet Manu regrets those turn overs and that missed free throw in G6, Kawhi regrets his missed free throw, Parker regrets missing the final regulation shot of G6, Pop regrets not putting in Duncan, Duncan regrets missing that post-shot in G7, Green regrets shrinking in the final 2 games, Splitter regrets not playing more aggressive.
Win as a team, Die as a team. If any of those players had performed to expectations or hit a couple of their shots, Spurs would be champions. But that's just not the case, but there's no need to point fingers at any single person.
Another thing about Duncan: Spurs fans need to stop jock strapping him. He's the best Spur of all time and easily a top 10 player, but for the most part.. he didn't reach expectations in these finals. 15 points and 11 boards on 46% shooting for the first 5 games (Against Bosh, Birdman, and Anthony may I remind you). I realize his age yes, but I find it incredibly unfair to blame TD's supporting cast for games 6/7 while without this said supporting cast Spurs would have been swept.
Don't even try to compare between those two loses, it's not close at all, you really don't understand what meaning this le could have made, and what the meaning of this loss. Ice winning one is not important as Duncan getting number 5, ring that would have put him as top 2 greatest player of all time, Duncan is the Spurs, never has been and never will be this kind of special player that you desire to see him succeed.
There are a lot of "what if's" but it's over and done with. Can only hope the Spurs have another run in them.
More like "I wouldn't have been old enough to enjoy the 1979 le". TD is already an all-time great, there's no question about that. The 2013 loss didn't hurt his greatness at all. Meanwhile Gervin will never be taken seriously to casual NBA Fans because he never won a le... Gervin's first>>>>Duncan's fifth.
You really really can't be serious making this statement. I can't believe you believe what you are saying. Are you truly saying that TD deserved his 5th ring MORE than Ice deserved his 1st?
Because if you are then you will be waking up a sleeping giant and have all the old timer Spurs fans up in arms and spanking your ass!
This thread is interesting...
You make it seem like TD hasn't been the best player on this team before. He usually is - although he was NOT in the 2007 when TP took over the series.
Plus, we're talking about the BEST POWER FORWARD in the history of the NBA. Better than Karl Malone. Better than Kevin McHale.
Is it a stretch to think the best player on the team is TD even at his age? There are probably 15-20 other teams in the NBA that if TD were on them, he'd be the best on that team as well.
This. TD is the main reason why Spurs have 5 championships. Spurs have ZERO without him. TD makes the FO look better than what they really are. TD helped Pop get into the HoF. TD and Kawhi carried in Games 6 & 7 but his stubborn coach and that broken down teammate of his with 8 turnovers flushed all his hard work down the toilet.
BS post!
The ghost was the best player of the playoff until the Finals according to ESPN and had some of the most clutch shot in Spurs history in Game 1 and Game 6 of the finals
ROFL... RC Buford lands Kawhi Leonard, you remember, the guy who kept hitting huge shots in the fourth in Game 7 of the Finals on the road to keep the Spurs in the game? He lands him with a mid first-round pick in a really weak draft. And the Spurs front office sucks? RC drafts a HOF point guard with the last pick of the first round. He sees something in undrafted Danny Green, Green sets the Finals record for most threes. And this is all an indictment of RC Buford????
Spurs can't rely on 1 or 2 players to win a closeout game in the finals, not unless that 1 player is Prime Tim Duncan. Spurs lost that game to a ton of mental errors and bad coaching.
Trying to pin the Spurs failure to win the 2013 Finals on one person (or office) is asinine. It simply wasn't one persons' (or offices') fault.
