Between O'Neal and Duncan, Shaq had won trice as the #1 in a row while Duncan twice seperatly. Both players were the reason for their team's success, Shaq had more success.

However, from 99-2003 Duncan had won 2 rings and he was about 6 years younger than Shaq then and Spurs owned Lakers in 03 so there's that. I think Duncan and Shaq from late 90s to 2003 were pretty close in my opinion. Though Shaq obviously was dominant with his 30 point 15 rebound averages in the playoffs.

Perhaps had Shaq kept motivated and in playing shape, he would have won more than 4 rings.
Easily between Tim and Shaq. Both have 4 les, both have 3 finals MVP's. Tim held a franchise together and shaq got his 3peat while the spurs were in transition as the Admirals game was in rapid decline. Once the "new age" spurs came together, though Tim was able to clean house, winning 3 les in 5 years. Even though TP won fMVP in 07, its foolish to argue that it wasn't Duncan's team.
