Well said my man! Exactly what his role should and would be.
I think he we choose us!

IMHO the Heat have to after him if for no other reason than to keep him off the Spurs!
Yup! The Heat can't beat us period! We beat ourselves (missed rebound/free throw sagging 5 ft of Lebron and Wade) Adding Oden would give them too much trouble!
The Heat were probably trembling when they thought AK47 was coming here!
They used this on the Birdman. They can only offer the minimum as well.
Florida, along with Texas is one of seven states without income tax, damn it!![]()
anyone else going to mind these gems right here? anyone else think they're funny?
^not even a little bit
I would have liked this deal if we didn't sign Pendergraph.. too many bigs and not enough roster spaces.
Actually 9 states don't have state income tax.
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming
Tennessee and New Hampshire do require a state tax on interest and stock dividends though, but not income
But seriously...how many teams are we talking about? Not many teams in the Dakotas or New Hampshire afterall...
Orlando Magic
Miami Heat
Memphis Grizzlies
San Antonio Spurs
Houston Rockets
Dallas Mavericks
Additionally it may include Seattle again in the future. However, at this time it's only 6 teams.
spurs plan could be to essentially shut down oden for the year, play him in spots, maybe even see if he'd be willing to play a few games in austin. is it possible spurs interest is merely to see if he can be healthy, and if so, targeted as a possible replacement for tim down the road ?
Oden is a defensive presence if he's at all healthy ever. I don't think his offensive game will ever be anything to write about.
What?!
1) Why would you ever play him in Austin? When he was healthy, Oden was always very productive in the bigs. Besides, the rate limiting step with Oden isn't ability, it has always been fragility. So why would you risk injury in Austin? That's just stupid.
2) Shut him down? Why? the guy hasn't played a professional basketball game in what, 3 seasons? If he needs to wait essentially 4 seasons between games then why are we even interested?
3) Possible replacement for Tim down the road...hmm.... Lets talk about Oden being a professional basketball player, capable of staying on the court, before we go replacing even Matt Bonner.
That would be my guess, the possible replacement for TD part,.........IF they get him.
part 3 of your response actually answers the questions listed in parts 1 and 2.
Since RC said there was a hole behind Leonard, probably backup SF tbh.

You're right.
When he can't get on the court it doesn't matter if hes playing in Austin, Miami or freaking Spain. Hes sitting on the bench in a suit regardless. So plans to have him replace Tim Duncan, lead us to an NBDL le with the Toros or dominate in the NBA aren't going to happen.
Do you realize that this guy hasn't played a professional basketball game since 2009-2010. Seriously think about how long ago that was. That's three seasons. Why the would we want to pay him millions of dollars, give up a roster spot, and then "shut him down"? Hes been shut down for 3 damn years.
So where has he been the last three seasons? He wasn't on a ing sabbatical to India to find himself. Hes broke. His knees have given out and physically he can't play the game. This is his hail mary attempt to try and eek out some kind of NBA career. Hes proven that when hes healthy the kid is really good. Hes obviously an NBA player. But making plans for him that go much further than 20-30 games are pipe dreams. The NBA season is long and hard on a player's body. Maybe somebody will strike gold with Greg Oden, but I really doubt it. If he's healthy enough to be the steady player you think he'll be, then why wasn't he in the league last season? What changed? Nothing - except that it's time to toss up that hail mary and give it one last go.
Looks like we did have someone there

In addition to Hawks, I'm told Spurs and Pelicans also have representatives at Greg Oden's latest workout audition in Indianapolis

Hawks were always scheduled to take first-hand look at Oden today in Indy; San Antonio and New Orleans decided to join them
Spurs are seriously considering him we know that much.
