Ellis will be our #2 scoring option next season so I voted for him on this poll, but it doesn't mean he'll certainly be the #2 in terms of importance and influence. If I were Carlisle I would play Monta off the bench, like how the Clippers use Jamal Crawford, so his major weaknesses in defense will be minimized and his positive impact at the offensive end will be optimized.
Ellis is our 2nd best player, which means we're destined for a very mediocre season. 40-45 wins.

It seems to me that people especially those outside the mavs fanbase are kind of obsessed with finding out the #2 best player on our team when we've never really had a constant #2. We always have 3-4 guys each of whom can be the #2 for us in a given night. Even on the 11' champion squad you can't easily tell who was the 2nd best player imho, Kidd or TC, or even Marion? They're all role players who can get their jobs done in different aspects. We just surround dirk with role players and we've always been working that way imho
