Quotes from five-star RB Dalvin Cook after his visit to Austin (HornsNation):

“It went good and smooth,” he said. “It’s a great place, better than I thought it was going to be. I saw a lot of good things there.”

    “I’m still solid,”
Cook said. “I’m still 100 percent with Florida.”

“Oh man, that’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever met,”
Cook said. “He’s (Mack Brown) a great person. There really isn’t much more I can say about it, he’s just great. We had a long talk, and Mack just talked about how bad they want me and how bad they need me.”

“Coach Porter, he’s a great person with a great personality and a great sense of humor,”
Cook said. “That man talked about a lot of good things. He said they really need to recruit some South Florida talent and he just feels like I’m that guy for them.”

“It’s Running Back U. They put out a lot of running backs,”
Cook said. “They showed me a little chart of their NFL running backs, and that’s what I’m trying to be. I’m trying to get to the next level.”

“He’s (Earl Campbell) a great guy and he loves the game of football,”
he said. “He’s one of the greatest backs to ever play. He told me Texas is a great place and told me whatever I do, just be happy with it and go for it. I really liked what he had to say.”

“I could turn around the program and do great things with the Longhorns,”
    he said.

“They’re probably always worried when you’re talking about one of your top players going to see another school,” he said. “They were obviously worried.”

“They’re (Florida) probably always worried when you’re talking about one of your top players going to see another school,”
he said. “They were obviously worried.”

    “They helped themselves a lot,”
Cook said. “I was just glad to go out there and see the place for myself with my own eyes.”

ESPN just did a long piece on Manziel called "The Trouble with Johnny." Interesting read when you have time:

    http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/...-espn-magazine

    Great read.

Lots of people bashing Manziel / parenting and sure fam will get heat over comments about A&M. However, I'm surprised there aren't more sympathetic people out there. No player has meant more to a school financially that Manziel to A&M in history of college athletics - and he and his fam are smart enough to know that. If Ags win 6-8 games nobody cares and they are long forgotten like Mizzou and people are talking about what a stupid move to SEC. Instead they have biggest year in school history in first year of SEC and now they're getting half-billion dollar stadium renovation. Manziel will make A&M money in the hundreds of millions range - literally. It has got to be hard making people and program rich and looking at what you get in return. I think his story just gets to the root of the problem with 'student-athletes'.

to be honest, i think it has been such a long time since the program at A&M has had a "star" that the school didn't know how to react to manziel's overnight success. as to the issue of what athletes give and get in return; i think that was probably most highlighted by the whole dynamic that went down with the 'fab 5'. manziel at least has a very well off family to fall back on. i do wonder though if the ricky williams scene would have played out differently had social media been on the scene at the time.

QB Casey Pachall of TCU is supposed to address the media today. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but there have been rumors for the past couple of days that he had a relapse of some sort.

I can promise you that it's more about Manziel's family being a huge pain in the ass to the school. A&M is just taking the high road and keeping quiet about it...which is smart because as chronic said, they are getting paid handsomely with him being there. Well off Tyler families are spoiled brats that need constant coddling and want everything their way. I'm sure all Aggie wants now is to squeeze as much money as they can out of Manziel and his fame then send his ass packing.

Seems like the Manziel's have an issue with the overall system of college football rather than A&M but the article doesn't do a very good job getting that point across. As for the stadium, it has been in the works for a few years now. It's not like A&M put some plan together and got a 450M dollar stadium approved in a couple months after Johnny hit the field and they saw they had success in the SEC. This stadium model has been in the works for a few years now and long before Manziel ever hit the field. Not sure why people think A&M is renovating it's stadium just because of the SEC move. Even if they had not moved leagues and Manziel never hit the field, this stadium renovation was proposed under the Sherman regime.

I'd have a hard time believing a half-billion stadium renovation would have been approved and completed pre-Manziel/SEC considering the athletic dept was broke and needed to borrow money from the school. There is a big difference between 'plans' and having the support and funds to make the plans reality. I'm no expert in A&M athletics but I'm guessing the scale of the project went up 10x in scope from original proposal.

For anyone that wants to see some fall practices, Mack announced today that there will be open practices next week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'm assuming it will be at DKR.

Not to distract from the intent, but isn't Manziel from Kerrville, not Tyler. I'm not an expert in TX geography, but to my knowledge Kerrville and Tyler are not in proximity to each other. Aside from that, I get the point. It tends to be the case with a lot of families that are privileged. They are accustomed to getting their way in all aspects of life.

More on this...Thursday's practice is at 5 p.m., Friday is 4:10 p.m. and Saturday is at 6 p.m.

All practices will be held at Denius Fields. Certain players will be available after each practice for autographs if you have kids.

2015 WR Kemah Siverand talks about UT after the Texas Stampede (24/7):

“I attended their Stampede event they had and I really enjoyed my time there,” said Siverand. “I would say that they definitely showcased everything they wanted to very well.”

“They treated us great there,” he said. “I thought a lot of them for that. That stood out the most. spent a lot of time with Coach Wyatt and he was very genuine. He was interested in me, talked to me a lot and said they will always have interest in me.”

“He (Darrell Wyatt) and the other coaches told me that they would come to one of my games,” Siverand said. “The one thing I want to do is work hard so I can have a tremendous season. That way when the coaches do come, they’ll be very impressed. Just the thought of Coach Wyatt and the other coaches coming to my school just to see me is mind blowing.”

“I don’t have any favorites yet,” Siverand said. “Those schools (A&M and Texas) are in it, but honestly everyone is on the map for me right now if they’re showing interest. I don’t even know when I will narrow it down now.”

"Yes it (the Stampede) helped them (Texas) out a lot,” he said. “There’s no doubt about it.”

His parents moved to Kerrville when he was in middle school. His whole family and extended family is from Tyler. They are the local crime family...though a lot of that has stopped as the older generation has died off. And believe me...privileged is not a strong enough word to describe Tyler's elite. They are obnoxious.
