No, it's your beloved Showtime pussing out in 86. Bird never pussed out like Magic.
Yes. It's Cuban dismantling in the blink of an eye what he'd meticulously & painstakingly built leaving you and your attendant fandom completely naked.

History has a funny way of rewriting itself through the pen that is people's memories.

    From 1992-97:

Shaquille v. Hakeem (Shaq 8 wins, Hakeem 2)

    Shaq: 23.3 PPG, 13.9 RPG, 56.2% FG
    Dream: 23.8 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 45.1% FG

Shaquille v. David Robinson (Shaq 3 wins, David 5)

    Shaq: 26.4 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 50.9% FG
    D-Rob: 29.1 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 51.0% FG

Shaq may have had varying degrees of success at times against those guys in one game or another, but he far from struggled against them. At the very least, he held his own. Especially with Hakeem, I think people assumed Hakeem dominated Shaq because of the 1995 NBA Finals. But truth is, even in the Finals, Shaq held his own. I know Shaq has stated Hakeem whooped his butt. But truth is, their match-up was pretty close:

    1995 NBA Finals:

    Shaq: 28 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 59.5% FG
    Dream: 32.8 PPG, 11.5 RPG, 48.3% FG

And it's not like Shaq only started dominating in the early 2000s just because that's when he started winning les. He was a 20/10 guy the moment he got drafted and started putting up 29/13 type numbers as early as his second season. He didn't just dominate starting in 2000. And he did do damage even against HOF players like Hakeem and David when they were putting up MVP caliber seasons themselves. And Vlade was only a couple years older than Shaq. And there were also guys like Alonzo and Yao Ming later on even if they aren't necessarily HOF caliber centers. It wasn't like Shaq was dominating 6'5 white guys at the center position game in and game out.
I wasn't attempting to berate shaq, and I guess in my memory of his matchups with Hakeem I weighed the finals pretty heavily. He didnt have any playoff matchups with pre-injury Robinson. It's just odd that some people give him the le of "most dominant force in nba history" when he was on par or just below Robinson/Hakeem during the 90's (if you give weight to the finals I guess) while doing his winning against past their prime centers. Shaq is one of the ggreatest players I've seen, but I don't see how his individual dominance is seen as superior to wilt's. that was my main point

^The last time Dirk got that closely involved with a person of color in a dress she sold him a parcel of land on the wrong side of the border.

Still little offensive game at the low post though.

His low post isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and his FT% and 3P% more than make up for it with the amount of defense the 'Rodman' part would play. AFAIK Dirk is the most complete offensive PF in the game that I have had the opportunity to watch. (I was too young for Bird, but that might have also been a legit pick at PF, except I am not sure that Larry played primarily at PF, more of a SF.) Timmay is a well rounded offensive player, but his 3 point shooting and his FT% leaves a lot to be desired. Rasheed had a of a post game, and the at ude of someone who never used it, and his 3 point percentage and FT% was not anywhere near Dirk's.

The unreal FT%, good enough post game and stretch-4 game that Dirk brings is enough fro me with Rodman's unreal defense.

I'd rather take Malone to make a hybrid with Dirk though. Malone's D was solid enough and he was stout as , and his low-post offense would hammer down any defense in today's league. Defense isn't that important an attribute to the #1 of a team to begin with imho, even when he's the best defender on your team you would still rather that he plays more "lazily" at the defensive end in order to save the energy for offense, except when the games goes white heat (like the last 28 secs of a crucial game 6). Playing pick-and-roll with a dirk-malone hybrid would be a nuclear weapon against the opposing teams imho

Honestly I was thinking a lot about Malone. His defense was VERY good, and his low post was excellent. But I feel that there was enough overlap, and Rodman was just SO much better on D, even than Malone...

Too much overlap IMHO. I always just thought of Hakeem as a slightly better DRob, and in my mind combining 2 players doesn't mean adding their stats together... DRob and Manure Bol maybe...
