Avery Johnson 8 million.
Wow. Serious truth bombs going off around here.
Manu could retire a Spur without overpaying him. 14.5 million is too much for him - especially after his atrocious Finals (which he down plays). He didn't even get a reasonable (market) contract, much less help out the Spurs as TP and TD did.
I knew he should've left when he had a chance in '04 when he was still
in his prime
It's in the sig.

Manu's the back up two, Manu's the back up three, Manu's the back up point, Manu can carry the water, Manu's what's for dinner.......................... Why can't he just be the face of your team, your wet dream? If everyone else can hold it together, when Manu's back he'll be there to pull the team through in the playoffs, like he did six years ago....... He'll be worn out by December. He's worth his contract as a back up two and to help handle the ball.
what exactly did Manu say to downplay his Finals performance?
Did he not really acknowledge that he was terrible???
I fail to believe this. Manu has always been honest with himself.

Racecardically he's Italian.
Thats re ed. Most Latinos (Natives of Spanish Speaking PPL in the Americas) have Native blood. U don't if ur ing weird and ur like those Germans who live their lives in enclosed cultish like society's. Like really bad Mormons. It all depends on how ur wanting tomuse the term caucasian. Racially or Anthropologically? I have white skin, and my great grandfather is Spanish, but I domt consider myself Caucasian. Because I'm not directly from Europe and neither is the majority of my lineage. I just avoid the label completely because they want to use it racially, intertwining the meaning with nationalitys and so on. "So are u white or Hispanic?" Lol, it's like stfu, ppl are who they are.
I was one of Manu's biggest fans and still love the guy for everything he's done for the team. But yes, he's made some comments that have made me wonder if he's in denial over just how inconsistent and bad he was in the playoffs. In some cases, the team won despite Manu and perhaps because the dude is a winner, all he saw was a "W" no matter how he played.
However, I can cite two occasions where he downplayed his poor performance. During the playoffs, a reporter asked him about his FT% going down and he deflected the question as if he had only missed a couple or that it was really no concern. He said something like "Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't. Trying to explain why I miss is just as difficult as explaining why they go in". -- Uh, no. The guy was always clutch and was one of the designated players who Pop wanted to get the ball to when the opponent needed to foul. I used his FT shooting as a barometer as to whether his head was in the game or not during the playoffs.
Sadly, his FT shooting problem was a good indicator that he wasn't right. Tim used to struggle with FT shooting and he improved tremendously. Even though Tim's always been a GREAT player, FT's were one of his weak areas and you knew it was a matter of mechanics. Good FT shooters don't go backwards.
In an interview, Manu described his personal performance in the playoffs as "so, so". That's flat out ridiculous and drew a deserving, sarcastic response from many in this forum. For an average player, I'd describe his performance as so-so. For a good player, I'd describe it as disappointing. For a great player with his history, I'd describe it as a nightmare or atrocious. Either fits.
He's had a great career and can be proud of it but everyone eventually needs to change their game or hang it up and realize that age has caught up with them. I sincerely hope there was something holding him back physically and that he can come back to being close to a great player. If it was physical, he's not letting on and perhaps convinced himself he was fine.
For the majority of the playoffs, he was clumsy and careless. His dribbling was poor as was his FT shooting. His shot selection was horrendous and many times he was gassed before he could reach the rim on drives to the basket. Outside of the occasional dunks when he made it to the rim, he lacked the lift to get his shots over the opponents. The results were reckless shots that bounced high off the backboard or barely touched the bottom of the basket. Meanwhile, Manu could be seen sprawling on the floor and looking for a call.
There are only four races. Pick one unless you're mixed. It is all rather silly, tbh, but from a scientific standpoint there are only four.
Tmtcsc with the truth nuke right there.
Wow
Love manu but hes in blind denial if he thinks he played so so. Sad ending for him
Manu probably thinks too highly of himself. He has himself up so high on a pedestal that if the team wins, he will take credit for the win and feel like a contributor to the "W" even though our eyes and the stats prove the contrary. If all this is true, then this is bad because Manu doesn't realize that he will need to improve his shooting and adjust his game. Maybe father time has defeated him. I wish that sucker would've retired so that we can use his $14.5M on a younger and better player.
If that was the case Manu would've done a James Harden a long time ago when he had a chance and left the Spurs when he had a chance to be a starter somewhere else instead of being a career sixth man coming off the bench for every other SG we've had since he arrived.
Stupid take. Manu finally started to believe his own press. After years of true modesty his golden god of war image finally got through and now he believes it. Never mind the fact that...
In the 2013 Finals Manu Ginobili sucked more than a Bangkok .
"Manu > Monta Ellis": homers were on point with that one...
Manu already in Finals form imo
Bring back Othyus Jeffers, tbh, per par, tbh
Portland is literally going on runs when this ball hog is in the game. Turnobili in Finals form already smh
One-man run for the Blazers. What a fuqn loser.
He usually throws the game at the end, not the third. He is confused.
